The rooms were filthy, we had to make sure we kept our shoes on because the floors were so dirty in our rooms. There was a 1 inch gap between the window and the wall they apparently tried to cover with duct tape. For the price they charge it is absolutely not worth it!! I wanted to like this place but they really need to step it up! They almost had the attitude that their hotel is better than the product that they're presenting to you. I definitely do not recommend this place for the price they charge. Maybe if it was more than half of what they charge you could look at it as, well you get what you pay for. I won't be back unless they step up the quality of their hotel.
This is a two star hotel posing as an upscale resort.
1. The $28 resort fee was a surprise. I did not discover it until after my card was charged and I researched the fees by making a mock reservation. I would not have booked the reservation at the room total. Shame on this hotel.
2. The rooms were dirty. There was lots of mold in the shower and the back door was filthy.
3. Hallway ceilings and the building exterior were in poor condition.
4. Heat consisted of a space heater.
5. The kitchen was exceptionally slow, but the food was good.
6. Other guests mentioned the smell of mold throughout the property. Yes, the hallways were quite smelly and even the employees made comments about the mold. This should never be a concern at any property
Dirty. Low end half broken furniture and sticky floors. We got some water on the floor and the towel we used to wipe it up was completely brown. Had to wear shoes the whole time. Beyond disappointed. This was a special splurge for us and it was a waste. Don’t go. Don’t stay here.
Our stay at the Plantation Crystal River Resort unfortunately was a disappointing experience from start to finish. To begin with, despite my reservation confirmation clearly stating that I had booked a room with two Queen beds, I was given a King Size bed room upon arrival. This mix-up was particularly frustrating as I am a Choice Hotel Member and it was stated on the third party website.
In addition, my attempts to change my reservation to different dates and to rectify the situation were not met with little sympathy or assistance. The third-party company through which I had made my reservation was unaccommodating and would not allow me to make a change to my booking to arrive a day earlier, adding unnecessary hassle to my travel plans.
Upon entering the room, I was appalled by the state of cleanliness. The rooms were filthy, and to make matters worse, I noticed the presence of mold in various areas. This not only left a bad impression but also raised concerns about the hotel's maintenance and hygiene standards.
The issues did not stop there, as the hotel lobby itself was far from inviting. It emitted an unpleasant odor, and it was evident that the entire property was in dire need of renovation and upkeep. The overall atmosphere was far from welcoming and did not reflect the standard one would expect from a reputable establishment.
Although the front desk person, CJ, did his best to assist us by switching our room to provide 2 Queen beds, he informed us that only two housekeepers were available, and they had both already gone home. This resulted in a lack of adequate housekeeping staff, further contributing to the poor condition of the rooms and the overall cleanliness of the hotel. He seemed overwhelmed and stressed by the lack of staff and the fact that he was alone handling calls and guests. In addition, when we arrived in the room with the King bed, the water was running in the bathtub, and we were unable to turn it off. When we got to the room with the two queen beds, the toilet was unable to flush, and we had to call maintenance after he made an attempt to fix it he said “you have to give it a crank.”
You could hear everything in the hallways. The tile that was used to enhance the flooring was causing an echo throughout the entire corridor.
In conclusion, my experience at the Plantation Crystal River Resort fell far short of my expectations. The mismanagement of my reservation, coupled with the unclean and outdated and poorly maintained facilities, left me deeply dissatisfied. I would strongly advise against staying at this establishment until significant improvements are made to address these issues.
I originally wrote a review and put 2 stars however, I am writing a new one, and I’m bringing it down to 1 star. The hotel is dirty. Our room had a huge patch of mold in the bathroom. The hot tub is out of service and the staff don’t tell you when you check in. I ordered a Caesar salad with shrimp last night and my shrimp weren’t cooked through. We sent the dish back and the server told us it was the cook’s first day. I decided to order a bowl of broccoli cheddar soup thinking this was the safer option but still ended up with food poisoning. Honestly this is the worse hotel I’ve ever stayed at
Rooms are large, beds comfy. The resort is dated, but clean. Needs some maintenance work. Lots of amenities. Pool was welcoming. Tiki bar on site. We recommend and will be back. Great Value
So excited to get here after a long day to sit in the hot tub. Sadly out of service no explanation as to why. The place is under construction and dirty. Elevator is sketchy and the place just smells nasty. I would have rather driven home than stay here but here I am.
Awful staff, dirty hotel particularly communal hallways. No lift. No assistance with luggage for second floor. Bath had areas of enamel chipped off. No plug in Bath just a hole. No central air conditioning just a mobile unit meaning the window could not be closed property. Hotel swimming pool (it's only asset) closed for our 2 night stay. The location is great and the initial drive up to the hotel is impressive. Some attempt at refurbishing has been done but it's poorly done. Could be brilliant, but is awful. Re the hotel pool being closed, the hotel made no attempt to contact us and forewarn us so we could cancel our booking and choose alternative accommodation. Very poor customer service.
