Horrible! Run down and extra charges after you leave without discussing or disclosure. Accused of smoking in the room when the housekeeper saw a butt in the trash, charged $250! Never smoked in a hotel room in my life, went to the designated area. Pretty sure butts go in the trash. Tried to say the run down beat carpet holes are burn marks! Been disputing the charge for over a week now. Save yourself the headache and spend money on a nicer place. It’s worth it. The jacuzzi gave me rash. Trash on the property. No extra amenities even though you are charged a resort fee. It’s all bs.
Close to the airport and very close to a nice strip mall with lots of shops and a great Island Market. Staff were on hand for our late check in due to a late flight. That’s about it for the good stuff.
Room was old, dirty and in poor repair. On asking what the surprise $25 “amenity fee” was for, the lady at the front desk just chuckled and didn’t answer. Who knows what it’s for? We weren’t there for very long and didn’t receive any “amenities” aside from the usual hotel stuff like towels and toilet paper in the bathroom and sheets on the bed…
Served its purpose for one night before we checked into our actual spot. Would not recommend.
This is a decent beach hotel. Amenities are older, rooms are spacious but need some tlc. Some hot tubs work, others do not, and filled with sand. The benefit is being in such a good location for launching other activities, but be aware of the road noise. It's a place to stay, but not necessarily relax.
After visiting Kauai for over 40 years, this was our first time at the Plantation Hale, and came away impressed. It was older, there was traffic noise from the highway, the air conditioner in the bedroom was loud and noisy, and we did not get the pool view as stated on the reservation, but the room and beds were clean and comfortable, parking was close to the condo, and we were within 150 yards to the ocean and walking distance to The Coconut Marketplace with an ABC store and shops and restaurants, as well having a Longs Drug/CVS next door, and a Safeway, Snorkel Bob's, and the rest of Kapa'a walkable or a short drive away. We had an upstairs room with no pool view, but a view of the ocean from the lanai across an open field to the east. The furniture in our unit was comfortable, with a dining table large enough for eating, cards, or jigsaw puzzles. We cooked breakfast and dinners daily, and we're used to nonstick pots and pans, but the stainless steel cleaned easily. We used the gas grill by the pool twice for dinner, snd it was just on the opposite side of the building. Chances are that you will encounter traffic most mornings or afternoons in the area, but Costco and Target were only 20 minutes away, and the Lihue Airport and Walmart were less than 15 minutes away. We made reservations less than 3 weeks out, and the Plantation Hale was probably the least expensive condo when we were looking. It's not new, it's not elaborate, the beach is not really swimmable, but the location is convenient and makes it accessible to most far reaches of the island in less than 1:30.
Not the best spot to stay at. Rooms are old and dated. Has an old motel feel to it.
Service staff was ok. They are not too clear on fees and amenities. I was on the phone with a staff member and they said they are going through some staffing changes and said they haven't been very good about explaining everything. It's unfortunate as I was charged a resort fee afterwards. I did book through a third party. Would be nice if I knew the cost of my stay upfront instead of being charged fees afterwards.
Not the most comfortable stay. I would avoid if you are bringing kids. Luckily this was a hotel stay just for myself.
I should've know what we were getting into to the minute we pulled up to the property and saw three old, rusting and dismantled golf carts on the lawn next to the reception building. The property is comprised of several two-story buildings, some units are privately owned and either owner-occupied or privately rented out. I was unaware of this when I booked the reservation, it appeared as a hotel-type property, when I booked through a third party hotel site. |The buildings are old and last saw serious maintenance years ago. The lock on the unit was inoperable, it was an electronic lock and clearly the locking mechanism was not working. We could not get into the room Went to the front desk to inquire about changing rooms, was told this was the last room available. Room key was reprogramed with the same result. Security was called and apparently all you had to do to open the door was push down on the handle and give the door a good push, the locking mechanism did not work at all!!|We stayed the night despite the lock because of our late arrival there were no other hotel accommodations available. We made sure to barricade the front door and lock the bedroom door.|This could be a charming place to stay especially for a family if it was better cared for. The unit has a full kitchen, and pull out sofa, which looked tired, worm and bacteria-laden. The carpet also was quite scary. Otherwise the room looked tidy.|Needless to say we left early the next morning and found other accommodations. I would not stay here again, I felt unsafe.
Stayed for a week as part of a group. Rooms are big enough for a family with a few kids. View is awesome, has everything in the full kitchen. Outside there are pools and BBQ sets for guests. Right next to it is a touristy spot for souvenirs and stuff. Chickens everywhere! Service is hit and miss. They said there are two separate companies servicing the rooms. Others in my group got their towels changed and garbage collected every few days. My room didn't at all. Laundry was a problem. You have to buy a 5$ laundry card, then charge money to it. My credit cards worked for that, but nobody else's cards worked. Without a credit or debit card that the laundry card randomly accepts, no laundry machines. Finally, rooms may not be ready when you arrive. I was the last one in my group to get in my room after waiting 3 hours or so.
Overall it was a very pleasant stay, but with a few hiccups.
If you’re expecting luxury, you might be disappointed, but I would recommend this place to anyone else. The suites are fully stocked, roomy, clean and there are lots of cute little shops within walking distance. Truly felt like a home away from home

Honestly this place massively exceeded expectations. Stayed here for 2 nights to start out the beginning of our honeymoon on Kauai. The ocean front room was definitely worth the extra cost and was a mere 15 yards from the ocean. Room had nice air con

Beautiful waterfall; well worth the effort to get there. Expect 8 miles (4.5hrs minimum) of hiking on unpaved rocky terrain. You will need to cross about 4 large rivers. Bring plenty of water and food.
There are restrooms at Hanakapiai beach.
Nice trail to walk along. A number of years ago I also rented a tandem bike for my wife and I and it was really fun as well. I'm not sure if they still rent the bikes now because I didn't see people riding them on our walk. You can't beat the view

The place is very picturesque, a beautiful beach with a wonderful view of the ocean. A very good idea is a fenced pool with emerald-colored sea water. Very convenient for families with small children. Very clean area. Quite windy. Nearby there i
Loved watching sunrise here! Very few people further south down the beach and easy parking access right off the road. Ideal spot to take in the waves and dawning of a new day.
The location is within walking distance of Coconut Marketplace and is across the street from a Safeway and some other stores. It is also right next to a pharmacy so you have basically everything you could need for staying. The kitchen area is very la
