Pizzaria 101 & Family Restaurant - Pizza restaurant in Pomfret Center - 16 Mashamoquet Rd # A, USA

We are just out cruising all these back roads. Do you call them that here? House hunting. Needed a bite to eat. Another day of house drive byes, houses are starting blend. While house hunting today I realized all these pizza places are not about the pizza. There is a pizza place on every corner out here. In Texas, it’s chicken on every corner. Looking into these pizza menus on google maps I see grinders. Something I grew up with on the west coast in Oregon. Just west of us in Philly they have hoagies, it’s a major competition. So finding the one in the middle of nowhere idk if I’m in Connecticut , RI, or Massachusetts anymore with a good review, it’s easy. They all specialize in something yet very few sell pizza. The daily specials are the ticket. Today the clams were just brought in this morning. Soooo I got my two favorite things at once. I got fried clams and a grinder😂😂😂at a pizza place. Y’all nailed it on the fried clams. Being from the Oregon coast, clam digging every weekend. I won’t just order clams (been in Texas too long) but it was on the special menu. And I’ve been up there in Ipswich, (travel for food) now I want someone to show me where I can dig my own on the East coast. Then I want to bring them to you and you can show me how you made such a perfect batter. Not overly fried, Not greasy, not salty thank you. Perfectly meaty as I remember. I am pretty sure I won’t find them that good again. But then WAIT‼️‼️‼️, there is the grinder. lol. I should have just shared my husband’s, he got a large. I got my own. Guess what. We ate it all. Best waitress ❤️💯 I wish I got your name, I got so food excited. I’m saving you as my favorite and we will be back, I have to see what else is on that daily special I can’t believe I didn’t get a picture of our grinders 🙈

The calzones were great! The garlic bread needed garlic. The 30 flies that were trying to eat with us ruined the whole meal. When we asked for extra napkins to keep killing then. We were told it’s almost winter they will be gone soon…

I bought a small grinder. I hadn't been for a while and I wasn't pleased the last time I went. But when I went this time it seemed like it was different, better. I did ask for extra lettuce and extra tomatoes and I did get them. I have noticed in the past in different places that when I asked for extra lettuce they seem to put less. There was only one other place that did put extra lettuce when I asked. So I was very happy when I got home and opened my grinder and found that there was extra lettuce in it. You know how it is, by the time you get to the end of the grinder there isn't hardly any lettuce left at all. And I like to have lettuce on my grinder. I would say it is a 5 ++. I would definitely come back again and recommend Pizza 101.

They just finished renovations. It's nice, but the food is still great. I had a turkey wrap. It was plentiful with the fries on the side. Wait staff was on hand for refills and what not. Very pleasant time with my friend.

Our family and friends favorite dining spot for pizza, salads, sandwiches and their seafood entrees are delicious! I prefer the baked scallops but the seafood platter is awesome too! Staff are always friendly and attentive to provide a great dining experience.

Since there has been new people working the phones and front of house the service has gone down hill drastically. Just picking up a take out order the other night my fiance watched the food being made and be passed over multiple times. Do better because you are about to lose customers

Great pizza, great portion size, a really good chicken parm grinder. The sauce they use here has a lot of flavor to it. The service is really good, the people warm and friendly. In my humble opinion this is the best pizza in northeast CT.

"PIZZA 101, PLEASE HOLD" ought to be the name of this place. And they never get back to you. I tried multiple times over 2 hrs to buy a pizza, carry out. Noone ever answers you on hold. You just sit there. I guess you got used to no competition in Pomfret? OK, I'll drive farther away to neighboring towns. At least they answer the phone and want to do business.
