Pittsfield State Forest - State park in Pittsfield - 1041 Cascade St, USA

The Pittsfield State Forest, near the Lulu trailhead—a playground for outdoor enthusiasts and their canine companions. With a multitude of hiking trails, it's a place where every path seems to whisper, "Explore me." While some trails show the wear and tear of nature's forces, they remain navigable for those with a sense of adventure. The absence of trash barrels serves as a subtle reminder to tread lightly and respect the land. It's not just a haven for hikers and their four-legged friends; mountain bikers will find the terrain equally inviting. With slopes that offer just the right blend of challenge and exhilaration, it's a spot where rubber meets dirt in the most satisfying way. All in all, it's a place that offers a little bit of rugged paradise for everyone.

We visited from out of state and enjoyed a long walk here. The trails are not always well-marked, so take a pic of the map if use a trail navigation app. There are a couple of views, but you are mostly in tree prison. You can take your dog on-leash, but we saw a number of bikers with their off-leash dogs who could not control their dogs.

We camped here on the group site for 3 nights. It was very pretty. We had a nice space tucked away by ourselves. The bathrooms are very clean and well taken care of. The sunset view at night is a must, so pretty. Pictures don't do it justice.

Very nice area. Berry Pond is really great. You can just stick around for a long time. The whole area is so peaceful and birds chirping is very soothing. We just decided to give it a try and we were very pleasantly surprised. If I am in the area again, I will sure consider visiting again.

I love this place, every time I go it's a different experience. There is trails for every one, with nice little views all over the mountain. Even if you don't want to hike there is picnic spots with grills, a beach area with white sands. If you drive half way up there is a view spanning over new york and a quant little pond. When I went today with my pup it was beautiful clear skys at the bottom, once I got to the top it was a foggy new world.

My family was looking for someplace that had camping, hiking, canoeing, and swimming, and this place checked all the boxes. Having said that, it is a bit limited. The pond for canoeing is quite small, and the swimming area is VERY small. Hiking trails are plentiful, but hit or miss. Some are great, and others are more like roads which a car can drive on. The facilities are excellent: modern, clean, well maintained bathroom, shower, and dishwashing facilities; numerous water sources near campsites, and excellent large metal "bear boxes” to safely store food on the campsites. The sites seem more spacious than normal, because during the pandemic many sites are being intentionally left vacant. Overall, I feel like MA DCR has done the best job possible making this a worthwhile place to visit. It's not really a wilderness experience, but for what my family calls "car camping” it's fine.

Great place to hike and keep socially distanced! We camped three nights and we're very happy with the campground - bathrooms were obviously very recently built and the nest campground bathrooms I've ever seen! Note that some sites are actually on the perimeter of an open field (#26-31ish?) which is not what we expected, it doesn't give much privacy so people park cars between the sites. make sure to drive or hike to the top of the hill which is the camp road loop for the beautiful view!

Excellent park with great amenities. Bathroom were always super clean. Showers were great with excellent water pressure. Staff at the window and the house by the pond were passionate about what they do and always ready to go above and beyond. Excellent State Park.
