I love the cove! Been going for years with boat or just to take pics and hike! Beautiful spot on L.I. especially if staying out on boat great place to sleep! Natural beauty!
Not a large area but contains everything described as beauty. Trail Route: McAllister County Park Beach Trail (AllTrails)
4 stars because the parking is very small and you have to be really early or be very lucky y get a spot. This is my place to go when I want to kayak or jus to walk.
Very cool place, nice long walk. Parking is super limit, big middle finger up to the people that complained to point where they have cameras installed and a cop patrolling the area to make sure there was no one parking on the side of the road. Waste of tax payer dollars.
Went fairly late in the afternoon to catch the sunset and the breeze. You need lots of patience to wait for a parking spot. Trust me. Just wait, it's worth it and you won't get any parking tickets because the cops look out for you. Driving in, it looks like a gated community. Be aware and drive cautiously because there are deer in the area. The view is exceptional! If you're not used to walking on rocks then wear a comfortable shoe, then switch to sandals or whatever shoe of choice. There are all sizes of fish in the water. It's a comfortable temperature to take a dip in even at night. Be cautious if you're going to watch the sunset. Some nights the tide can get very high and you may get stuck on the dunes.. I personally haven't done so, but you may need to navigate the shrubs to get back on the main road if you're stuck. The climb up the dunes is worth it though and people have picnics at the top. I totally encourage photoshoots lol This is definitely a new go-to spot for when I need to meditate.
Great place for a short walk or jog with a small beach-like vibe. Be aware of the tides which can greatly effect how much room you have to get around. Parking is very limited so come early or during the work week. Dog friendly.
Nice quiet beach but at the expense of very little parking (only 4-5 spaces, constantly people waiting during the day)
This has been one of my favorite north shore places to visit since I was a lil kid w the boat. Its paradise!!
