I have been searching for a grave site of an ancestor and was disappointed to not find his name on the plaques here. After reading some of the history of Pioneer Park and learning that everything was removed, then the little memorial was put in and some of the headstones retrieved. Hopefully these pictures will help others know if their relatives are buried here.
Mission hills neighborhood park with interesting history. Home of a diverse plot trees and enough space to lounge.
A charming park in the neighborhood, bustling with individuals of diverse ages and backgrounds, offers a delightful setting. From organized yoga sessions to kids flying kites, it embodies the joyful, stress-free atmosphere one envisions for an afternoon in the park. This locale captures the ideal image of a content and vibrant community space. Additionally, it's a favorite among our canine companions!
A wonderful small gem of a park in this dense area, yet, surprisingly large enough to thoroughly enjoy your own space under a tree or in the sun. Kids playground is on one side. Has restrooms. Don't forget to check out the tombstones!
Beautiful park with great public bathrooms. Cemetery is a little creepy but the trees are gorgeous.
I'm giving 5 stars mostly because I LOVE the huge magnolia tree!! I also love the mesquite trees because they remind me of home (Texas). I guess the trees just remind me of the south and I miss it a little. I was also very interested in the history there and seeing the gravestones, although its a little sad that the bodies were never moved and the park where kids are playing and people are walking around hanging out is still a graveyard with bodies (apparently only some of the headstones were moved to one side section). If you can get past that, its a good (small) park to bring the kids and/or dog, or just chill. There's a playground on one side thats kind of separated from the actual park area by the restrooms.
Definitely a cool spot for people who like large, old trees or people wanting to see or feel a presence at night (so I've heard).
I just wish the parents would keep their kids off the headstones!! Pretty disrespectful!
Best fact. Park built over a old cemetary. There are dozens or tombstones toward the back. I guess there was a old school there and the faculty was put to rest there . Very pretty and slightly spoky.
Behind the tombstones there is a small open area hidden from sight . High school kids would frequent this area at night to drink and well.... you remember hopefully . This spot has fast access to Washington st going down the hill for quick getaway if cops come for you. Just dont be to loud especially in the summer two houses are ear shot distance ..
Scenic park with playground, exercise equipment and paved sidewalk. There are some benches. Plenty of open grass ..
My only complaint is the homeless camp out in the day time and bathrooms are not up to Okay standards. Likely only cleaned once a day. But hey at least they open. !! If the closed go pee in the hidden area behind tombstones
Great park, I love that it has a playground, restroom, and plenty of space for kids to run. Dog friendly park. I would say that the only thing that needs improvement in my eyes is the parking availability. At certain times, it can be hard to find. Parking.
Great, clean and not crowded on my visit. Amazing view at the over look. Beautiful green grass and trees for relaxation. I notice some people were workin out alone or with trainer, group gatherings, kids at playground. It is a beautiful and peaceful
What's not to love about walking near and on an aircraft carrier!? I am a huge fan of San Diego and visiting the harbor is a must when you come. Take the time to experience the history of these massive ships.
Itâs a spacious and clean park located at a beautiful neighborhood. The playground facilities are new, clean, and full of fun. Most kids we met here are friendly.

San Diego beaches do not disappoint, although they had just experienced pretty nasty freak waves A few days earlier, it was still an amazing walk for one end to the other. You can imagine that it wasn't overly busy, because of the time of year. Bea
Easy access from 15 via Mercy Road. Clean ballparkâ¦awesome trails. Lots of cross trails so hikes of any length are possible. Charge your phones first!! Great maps and clear trail markings. We might make it to the waterfall next time.
Parking isnât great, but the park is. Plenty of seating, decent shade, lots of fun and challenging stuff for the kiddos to do at any young age. The skate track is cool and gets busy but there are enough old school people who give the little kids ti
Love the location. It's near the city hall and the waterfront. Walking distance to the cruises and USS midway.
