We loved Pinestead Farm Lodge. Wonderful family history, friendly folks, rustic charm. A beautiful area, If you need a pool and TV, this is not the place for you. It's a board game type of place or cozy up with a good book. Very relaxing, very chill.

My family and I stayed here during the first week of July this year. - - We love hiking the New Hampshire mountains, especially near the Franconia State Park. This is a great location for serious hikers! - - - - There is a lot of history associated with this land and house- one of the downstairs rooms has some old artifacts on display, very neat! - - The owners are very 'green' and do all they can to help the environment, that was inspiring. It was a bit confusing to know where to put some of the paper products, hope we did it right. - - - Loved talking with the owners, they are charming people, you can learn a great deal about the area from them. - - They make their own great maple syrup, we took a couple of jugs home, it was delicious. - The lodging at Pinestead is very inexpensive for the area. The accommodations are pretty basic and mismatched styles, but it is a good place to 'spread out' as a family if you rent a whole 'suite' of 3 bedrooms with a kitchen. - It is not 'impeccably' furnished - one of the chairs in the corner did something funny when you sat on it, and everything is kind of mismatched décor (quilts are nice), but it is clean and if you are not expecting perfection, but an inexpensive place to stay in a gorgeous outdoor setting, this is for you. - We stayed when it was extremely hot outside, a window air conditioner would have been nice, the fans were barely adequate, but then again - it doesn't get that hot in New Hampshire very often. - - - Bring your own towels if you need more than one set per person during your visit, which we did.

I stayed with my wife and 3 grown daughers. We had a good price and had 3 rooms with a kitchen area and a bathroom. It is a very laid back operation. The host are nice folks. No credit cards accepted. Beds were really comfy and the homemade quilts were a nice touch. We went hiking on the Greenleaf Trail up to the AMC hut just below Lafayette Peak. This isn't the trail for the weak. Get started early, especially if you want to get up to Lafayette. Other than the worn carpet in the kitchen area, I really don't have any complaints. I have stayed before and enjoyed it with a bunch of guy friends while hiking. Nice location, but a little drive to any place to eat. The Franconia Inn has excellent meals and is the closest right down the street, but is a bit pricey. Also you can horseback ride there and get glider rides. I would not hesitate to recommend the Pinestead, but keep in mind that it is a bit "rustic" so if you are used to the Ritz, this might come up a might short for your taste.

Lived in area many years ago, over 25 years ago, but this family and the valley were always a special place. Recently three friends and I stayed there in Pie Alley. It was perfect. We had three bedrooms with two beds in each room, fully equipped kitchen and a small sitting area. We were able to have friends over and just relax and sit around and catch up.The produce stand on property with fresh organic produce was delicious and convenient. The views at sunset from front porch, and in morning too, were so soul nourishing and special. It is rustic, not a typical chain hotel, but was perfect for our budget and what we needed. Convenient to hikes in area, like the Kinsman Trail, and other sights. If you're a family or a group, great place to go, even I think, if only one or two of you. Great hospitality and a very special location and place.

If you want to experience New England at it's most cozy and heartfelt, this is the place to do it! Pinestead Farm is family run, a working farm, and they even make their own maple syrup in their own sugar house! Each of the apartments is lovingly decorated. The traditional quilts are also home made - and can be bought at their store in town - and are cozy to snuggle into at night. Each bedroom in our apartment had a double and single bed - easy for the family to share rooms. The kitchen is fully equipped. We didn't cook but could have. Don't expect luxury, but everything is clean, functional and cozy. The setting is gorgeous and you can walk the grounds, visit the animals and hike. Perfect for a stay if you want to see Franconia Notch! Thanks to the wonderful family for their outstanding hospitality. We felt truly "at home"!

Our group of 12 stayed there last year for one night before a road race. We are staying again this year because we loved it and it's cheap! If you are looking for something fancy or modern with lots of ammeneties, this is not the place, but it's very cozy. The beds (love the quilts!) were comfortable and the apartments were clean. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook our dinner. I almost did not want to write a review to keep it from getting too popular! I would definitely recommend staying here.

This farm is lovely and rustic. The rooms are old fashioned and they all have access to a kitchenette. I went here with my husband on off season and I can't wait to go back during ski season and in the summer, too. ||||Although, I had a nice time here with my husband, I couldn't help thinking it would be more fun with a group of people or with a family. It's just a kind of down to earth place (it is a working farm afterall) where you would feel good bringing children or kicking back with a group of friends after hiking. It's something different than your usual condo type place or hotel, more authentic.

My husband and I started staying at Pinestead four years ago. We were charmed by the Pantry suite, with its two bedrooms, bath, living room, and kitchen. It's a little quirky (for example, not all the burners on the gas stove work all the time) and not fancy, but a great place to relax and reconnect (there's no TV and Wifi is free but spotty!). There are cute quilts on the beds and antiques in the farmhouse. No a/c, but we've never needed it in July or August thanks to the crisp, mountain air.||||Now, four years later, we stay with our son, too! Pinestead is a paradise for a little boy, with friendly chickens to feed, horses to pet, and a nice little sandbox and play area. The Sherburnes are a welcoming, friendly family and make great hosts.||||Location convenient to Franconia Notch State Park, Sugar Hill (Polly's Pancake Parlor!) and Littleton. About 20 minutes from Lincoln, which boasts many restaurants and tourist attractions.
