The cabin I stayed in was nothing short of frightening. Cozy Rest should be bulldozed along with several others we looked at nearest the water. The place is in disrepair and the owners are non-existent. Peeling paint from the bedroom ceiling, sloping floor in the main room, gross kitchen and bathroom. Nothing good about it. I talked to neighbors and they had the same experience. I don't know how these cottages would pass any sort of inspection, but I assume they don't have to. Owners need to concentrate on fixing up the cabins and not the main bar. VERY costly for what you get.

Rent at your own risk. Place is a dump, falling apart and badly in need of MAJOR renovations. Owners are rude and unprofessional. We've stayed in this location going on 5+ years. Previous owner, while lacking in upkeep, at least ran it as a resort. These folks run a bar with rentals on site. In the past, we accepted the run down "up north feel" but have at least some requirements: cleaned on entry and a modicum of hospitality by the owner. We entered to see minimal cleaning had been done. Layers of caked dust and grime throughout the kitchen. Garbage from previous tenants not exptied (and left there by owners the entire week as they avoided us, their customers, to even ask if we needed anything. I'm not taking out someone elses rotten waterfilled garbage). Obvious limited vacuuming. It was gross and we spent the first couple hours cleaning. When inquiries were made, we were met with disbelief and outright hostility. On leaving, we were told our annual rental would not be available. Handle of front door fell off on last day (one of the MANY things needing fixing/repairs/TLC). We can assume this was their excuse for not crediting our security deposit. This is all true. We are reasonable people. These people are not. The bar renovation was nice. That's the only redeeming quality to this place.

Absolutely love the new owners! This resort needs a lot of tlc and you can tell that they have already been putting in the work. This year there was quite a bit of wildlife! We saw some otters playing in the lake right near the beach, and of course you hear the coyotes every night. I’m a little bit nervous about how having the bar open might change the vibes of the place (our family rents out a big chunk of the resort and is used to our seclusion) but aside from the live music cutting into a few hours of our last night there wasn’t really too much interruption to our norm. All in all I’m excited to see what they do with the place!

Pine Valley is under new management. Pam, Jason, Taylor, and Tina are the perfect family to modernize the resort while retaining it's history. The restoration of the bar is phenomenal and it is great to have this long missed amenity return after 20 years. What they have completed in 6 months of ownership is outstanding! Can't wait to see how the rest of the planned renovations turn out.

The slope to hilltop is a groin buster. The road is rocks so it’s painful if you’re not wearing shoes when you walk from the lake to your cabin. It would be nice to see a gravel drive in the future!|Food & drinks: Concessions are open mid day and bar is open evenings.

New owners have been great for this place. The bar has been redone with plans to fix the cabins over the next few years. Pretty much ALL problems cause by the previous ownership have been solved or are being worked on.

Rumor has it the land for the resort was won in a high stakes card game. This resort was built around the 1920s and at the time electricity and indoor plumbing was a luxury in these parts. Ownership has changed hands in the last hundred years for this resort but it's currently owned by a very nice couple looking to revive and rejuvenate this family friendly vacation spot. keep this in mind when you walk into their rustic cabins. They remind me more of a summer camp. There may not be fancy furnishings or the feeling of a staged home, but it suits my family just fine and they allow our dog which is a great plus. It's nice to know I don't have to worry about my 4 year old son breaking a wooden loon knick knack or the TV (because there might not be one). The beach, by the way, is great for kids. It's nice and sandy and it's only a few feet deep for about 10-20 yards out. There's a lot of space for the kids to run and play and there's a rec room with some games for bad weather days (or whenever). My family had a great time despite the relatively poor weather and we look forward to our next visit!

Stayed here with family of 11 ages 76-1 at Heritage House in June. This seemed to be the nicest of the (9?) cabins, likely due to it having been the owners home until recently. That said, it still, like the rest of the resort, needs renovation. Its a nice enough rustic house, lots of space, nice enough (for Northwoods) furnishings (beds actually fairly comfy). Owners are super nice and accommodating but as other reviewers have stated, they need a small army (and a miracle) to get the rest of the resort up to snuff.||||The Good: Heritage house is roomy, comfy enough for up north, rustic stay. Beach is nice sized with sand out at least 20 feet until it gets mucky. Piers are sturdy, fishing for the kids off the piers was fun with lots of small bluegill to catch. Grounds were kept clean where people would be (although lots of clutter to the sides, see below). Owners are very nice people. Lots of cool history with the resort. The lake is great (fishing and boating/skiing). Rec Room/Bar has so much potential. ||||The Bad: One other family was staying at Norway and had to be moved out due to CO2 leak. While I'm sure it would be fixed, this gives an idea of the general run down nature of the resort. Our house which while nice enough, had settling issues (resort is over 100 years old) resulting in large cracks all over. Minor repair needs required throughout. I saw the first floor of the large lodge and while spacious, it had serious settling problems (the entire kitchen is on a slant). Most of the grounds are clean, however the resort could do with a very solid de-junking to get rid of all the old broken down items cluttering the grounds and inside the rec room/bar.||||TLDR: Nice enough rustic Northwoods lodge if you can ignore the major renovations needed. Price is about right for what you get.

Terrific disc golf course. Good facilities and signage. A few slopes need more grass seeding but that's minor. This is a fun Northwoods disc golf course, and we plan to return regularly!

Roasted Red Pepper soup and Gyro for lunch. Super yummy. Husband had same soup and an Italian Beef sandwich. The sandwiches were huge! They had Winter drink menu that looked very interesting. I'll be back to try some of those.
