There's plenty of room for improvement in the decor and just needed updates. However, there is historical value in the keeping of things as quaint as they are. We had champagne waiting for us in our room one night, which was very thoughtful since we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. Everything was tidy and in working order. Location, location, location! We had an ocean view and watched the sunset over the ocean from the comfort of our warm room in our pajamas with a glass of champagne. We could easily walk to the beach if we chose so the location is not easily matched. This alone would deserve 5 stars. However, the dated interior and the restaurant on site don't help. The restaurant on site is not the most unique. The red sauce on the pasta lacks depth, which is a shame because they make the pasta fresh. The least they could do is pair it with an incredible sauce. Wine selection is not bad, but the beer on tap was stale/flat. Still, service is timely, kind, attentive, and courteous. The seafood was fresh, the cauliflower flavorful, the chicken moist, and the gravy delish! The hotel and ambiance are right on par with the 3.5-4 star rating.
We had a beautiful room with an ocean view. The kind size bed was so comfy and the shower had the best shower pressure. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The hotel contacted me the day before our arrival and asked if we needed anything during our stay. We were welcomed with a hand written note for my husband’s birthday celebration and a bottle of sparkling wine. Thank you again !
Fabulous historic hotel with a great location. We had a view of the ocean from our room. We were celebrating our recent marriage, and greeted with a bottle of champagne as a welcome gift. The hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas and located directly on Ocean Avenue where the majority of the shops are located in Carmel. The adjacent Italian restaurant is a 'must' as our dinner was superb. Will definitely return on our next visit to California.
My wife and I stayed at the Pine Inn for the very first time for her birthday weekend. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! We had a comfortable kingsize bed and an ocean view:) They even delivered champagne, chocolates, and snacks with a note from the owner. It is not a modern hotel, but you can stay in a modern, chain-hotel anytime. The charm of the Pine Inn is that it is old-time Carmel and has so much history. We loved the vintage flavor of the whole place. Yet, wi-fi and the smart TV were added modern amenities. Staff was very kind the whole time we were there. We ate dinner at the on-site restaurant one night (it was fantastic!) and got coffee at the attached coffee shop each morning. You cannot beat the location! We had about a 5-minute walk down to the beach each day and were right in the middle of the shops. We loved our entire experience at Pine Inn and highly recommend it to anyone! The only minor things that did not impact our stay were we couldn’t get the furnace/heater to work, the overnight parking lot was full each night (we found street parking with ease), and there was a bit of noise from the street/patio.
Great historic hotel with a staff that was extremely kind and helpful. Went the extra mile for me planning an engagement. Once view room was worth the extra cost. Very cool spot for a nice relaxing weekend in a great little town.
Excellente localisation.
avoid, rooms are small, dingy. the lobby is pointless, not even hot water for Tea, no coffee.. and why not?? The staff, smiled but the vibe was bad ..like how dare you ask for the basics. The heater in room is noisy old and I have no idea how it works. I hope the street noise quiets down..unfortunately booked for 2 nights..
The bed was comfortable and it’s in a great location but that was about it. We had to park 2+ blocks away and trek our luggage up a steep hill to get back to the hotel. For the price tag, that is unacceptable. We had an “ocean view” room and technically you could see the ocean but the shutters on the window automatically close so we had to prop them open with a shoe to enjoy it. I wouldn’t stay here again.

Such a pleasant stay at Tradewinds! This is a dog friendly inn on Mission street, just a few blocks from great shopping and dining. The hotel was quiet and my room had partial (and beautiful!) views of the ocean. The check in service was great and ea
This is a very nice hotel. Staff is very friendly and accommodating, the rooms are nice sized and clean. Oversized tub was very nice and relaxing. Very convenient for walking in "downtown" Carmel-by-the-Sea. Overall a very nice, quiet hotel, I would
We had a lovely stay. Beautiful property, with heated bathroom floors, windows in the bathroom (a personal favorite), beautiful sunset ocean views, patios, fully equipped mini kitchens (microwave and fridge), cute and cozy interiors, heated pool and
Excellent location, pool was heated in middle of October, which was a nice surprise. Staff friendly, nice continental breakfast. Free parking. We stayed in a cottage which was small and dated, beds were comfortable. Second time we have stayed there.
We recently stayed at this lovely hotel for three nights. Loved all the beautiful flower boxes and flower beds. We enjoyed the fireplace and private patio. Luis, at the front desk was very helpful and accommodating.. didn't want to leave ...
A lot of negative reviews recently on this place but the Briarwood Inn was exactly what expected when booking: A quaint inn with great walkability within Carmel. It is a 5 minute walk to the centre of Carmel for shops and restaurants and a 10-15 minu

The food and coffee were good. Rooms are nice, and the beds are comfortable. The pillows are soft but too thick for my taste. It
We loved our experience at the hotel Carmel! No A/C although we opened our windows and used a fan. I could hear the people above us although Iâm not sure if this is always the case or if they were just louder. The fireplace in room plus private pat
Was pleasantly surprised with this Best Western. Clean and nicely updated room. The bed was a bit firm for me personally but pretty standard for most hotels to have a firm bed.
My favorite beach on the California coast! I prefer it in the winter when it's less crowded. There's always, always, people on it though. Beautiful waves, soft sand, lots of space to walk at low tide. It's a great place to bring your dog but be aware
Sophisticated and cool with unusual, unique, quality merchandise. Several lines are Italy direct exclusives. I went in to purchase their vegetarian make up (no chemicals) and the soy based nail colors but found so much more. There are gift items for
This place is located inside the Point lobos state natural reserve, Bird island trail. It was an easy trail.
Entry Fee was $10 per vehicle. Parking and restrooms were available at the beginning of the trail. But parking was little bit challenging ev
Really perfect place for kids to play. The water is warm and clean, and there are a lot of pelicans resting in the river. Besides, you may explore the sea creatures in the rock such as crabs, hermit crab, fish, and sea ââurchin. You can also rela
Multiple members of my family are frequent visitors to Carmel and always stop in to your shop! We love the customer service and cannot leave without finding a new sweatshirt or beanie or awesome tee shirts! We recommend it to any friends coming to to
Nice little town on the way to Big Sur! Each of the shop and/or property here are aesthetically decorated and taking a walk worths it. Free street parking available for limited time frame so watch out. Several gas stations and restaurants are around
Absolutely fantastic experience, from the service to the cocktails to the food. Owners Caroline and Michael have done a phenomenal job of creating a welcoming restaurant with top-notch, Michelin-worthy food. I had the tasting menu with wine pairing,
Not gonna lie, I spent an arm and a leg here, but it was worth it to treat my partner and I out on a weekend getaway! I would say expect to spend around $400-$500 for two (without any extras like wine, etc etc.). Everything was solid, but MAN the bri
