So delicious!! First thing I noticed was the beautiful presentation, that the nigiri were wraped with a strip of seaweed. May be a small touch but most places do not do the little things. Another small thing that mattered to me was that they used a higher quality brand of chopsticks than most. Back to the food, the Salmon Hand Roll was something I had never tried before, and I do think I will stick with regular rolls and nigiri but it was good! Seems portable, held up well and very tasty. The Miso Soup was great, came hot, and the tofu was the perfect consistency. The two types of nigiri I got were salmon and crabstick, both of them tasted really delicious. The rice was packed together so it wouldn't fall apart, but not so much it would be tough. Will be ordering again. :)
Got the passion fruit juice and the Viet box. It was very good and came with a lot of food considering how cheap it was. I was so stuffed I didn’t even finish all of it. My mom got the Pad Thai which was also delicious. I was expecting it to be more packed since it was a Friday night but maybe people don’t know about it? I’m definitely gonna visit again though
The lighting was nonexistent, and the restaurant was completely empty Sat night. Don't come here for any authentic flavors... food was extremely bland. No salt on fried chicken wings. Pho didn't have much depth or flavor to it. Banh Mi, while I asked for grilled pork, was char siu without any crust. There was also no pate on the bread, which was also untoasted.
Long story short, service is fine. Food is bad. Would not come back or recommend anyone here for any reason.
I’m new to BUFFALO. The menu looked decent so I thought I’d give this place a shot. And omfg do I regret it.
Idk how y’all western New Yorkers do SUSHI but that definitely ain’t it.
Don’t even get me started on the PHO. Broth was cold. Noodles soggy. Meat almost shredded and meatballs thinly sliced. Took one bite and immediately walked out. Absolutely disgusting and unacceptable. Brought up the issue with the store manager and instead of apologizing for the bad food she laughed it off had the audacity to charge me the full amount. Idk how a restaurant in the heart is downtown serving food like this is still in business.
We dropped in on a Thursday night. The food was delicious - quail legs, pork and egg on rice, and a couple of other things. The inside is really nice and the employees were very kind.
Upon arriving during lunch hour on a Friday I see just two other customers in the restaurant. I'm promptly seated to my table and offered the menu. I look at my table and it's decorated with the ocean and a giant sea turtle. What I might expect at Sea World or a seafood restaurant, not a restaurant specializing in Vietnamese Pho. The waiter was attentive and capable. I ordered the $12 lunch special of Chicken and Avocado Salad. (pictures included) The salad was delicious *despite* bathing in salad dressing. It was soaking in it. Perhaps lightly dressing the salad in the kitchen and providing the customer with the remaining dressing on the side would be a better option?
Now, more on ambience. It's 1pm and I'm trying to enjoy a relaxing lunch. But Miami Beach Spring Break-esque hip-hop and rap thud-thud-thud throughout the restaurant. Maybe a favorite of the kitchen workers but not a favorite of mine Or was like we were gearing up for the cluuub. There's much better ambient music chooses for a professional dining experience.
Just because of the thump-thump-thumps while I'm trying to eat I probably wouldn't return. It was fine if it were happy hour at the bar or club but not at 1pm on a lunch hour workday. The restaurant decor and menu seems to go everywhere without a clear main focus. I thought I was going to a Vietnamese restaurant for Pho but they had entries on the menu claiming to be Japanese and Thai. My chicken salad was basic California Chicken atop a bed of greens garnished with avocado with a non-descript salad dressing that the chef couldn't tell the food server anything but "avocado and Thai dressing." What does that mean? I saw no avocado cream in the dressing. It was oil based.
A step below Mall food. Cuisine appeared reheated and not fresh. We arrived at 9:00 when the restaurant stated it closed at 10:00. The person at the door clearly did not want us there and I felt we were going to be turned away. I wish they had. The place was empty. The waitress was friendly but the food was at best mediocre. They had no beer on tap and when I ordered a Vietnamese beer called Saigon, I got a Thai beer instead. The decor, atmosphere and music was as Mall like as the food. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. I have eaten Thai food throughout the country and outside. Even if this was a off night there is no way this establishment is worth a visit. I never like to give a bad review unless it is truly earned.
Went in for an early dinner/late lunch with my family...was not expecting such a beautiful interior! The food was great and so was the service (even if we were the only ones inside). Don't be fooled by the exterior. Waves was a delightful eating experience.

Outstanding lunch at The Grotto! From the moment we walked in and met our server Rachel, we had phenomenal service. Rachel suggested regional drinks (Loganberry! So so good!) and the popular dishes in the menu. She even went above and beyond to help
