Pho Saigon & Grill 2 - Vietnamese restaurant in El Sobrante - 5047 Appian Way, USA

They have a soft opening since 5 months ago. We had Pho Ga, Pho veggies and beef as well as short ribs bbq. I would say the soups and egg noodles taste much better than before! Jason, the owner, makes everything in the house now!

I ordered the #16 Grilled Chicken combo with shrimp and eggroll….EVERY BITE OF THE CHICKEN & NOODLES IS OIL. Nothing is grilled in this dish….Everything is Deep Fried and all the OiL WILL BE UNDER THE CHICKEN ALL OVER THE VERMICELLI…..YOUR VERMICELLI NOODLES WILL TASTE LIKE OIL… IF You can see, Nothing is really grilled… Just Unknown Chicken pieces curled up from the deep fryer.

I went there about a week ago and I was impressed by their customer service. There was a guy who said he just moved to CA, he was super nice to us and helped us out any way possible. Ive always loved their food here but it always tastes better served with a smile :)

It is good to have a local Vietnamese restaurant in El Sobrante. I've had several dishes here and they are all good. My recommendations are the Pho and the Bun (vermicelli) dishes. I do come after heavy traffic hours so it helps as the owner is also the chef, I believe. My understanding is that pre-pandemic, they were bustling and now post-pandemic, they are needing your support and patronage.

It seems like the management/ownership might have changed. The staff is much slower. The food is different. Chicken wings are almost overcooked and almost comparable to a jawbreaker. The sauce for the spring rolls was way off and could not be finished. I resorted to finishing my spring roll with sweet and sour sauce - yes, i was THAT disappointed. I downgraded my rating 5 to 2

Services was quick and attentive. Food was delicious! Exactly what I was looking for. I ordered a Thai tea and it hit the spot. Definitely recommend to stop by.

Use to be our go to pho place because for myself they have vegan pho with vegan broth. Sometimes I’d order their grilled shrimp vermicelli. They would order their thinly sliced beef platter over rice. Probably in the last few months they do not have the same flair of cooking as they once had. The shrimp was not grilled but skillet cooked; oily if you ask me and they added some type of green onion on top which they never did. The thinly sliced beef, they use another beef, it’s no longer thin but it’s stringy and super fatty. Saddened that my one go to has lacked in the appeal and comfort of consistency.

Great food. Meh service. Overpriced. Update: The service is horrendous. Only one person serving/taking orders/cash register. And only one cook in the back. The place is empty, and it took beyond forever for the food to come out. One dish came out, and it took another 20min. for the rest of the order to come out. Flies as far the eye can see. I won't return.
