Pho 79 - Vietnamese restaurant in Washington - 201 Massachusetts Ave NE, USA

I was in the area and stopped in for a quick snack. I just wanted a order of spring rolls and was told they come with rice, I said that was fine. My spring rolls came out hot and crispy which was nice! Unfortunately the rice never showed up, Also people were piling up in the entrance confused about how and where to sit and order, Do I pay now or later?? Probably wouldn’t hurt to have someone at the door. I thankfully paid after so I only paid for the rolls no rice.. 3 ⭐️’s for the hot fresh Spring Rolls.

Pho is so so, not that great, the beef and chicken are good and fresh, but the broth used a lot of herbals especially anise that made it too strong and a smell in which I don’t like when I eat Pho. We placed an order for fresh spring rolls but they were sold out, and they replaced them with fried ones. It would be better to take it off the online menu when it’s sold out so we did not have to order and paid in advance. One more thing that you have to order bean spouts separately for Pho, that’s ridiculous! Plus, they make you pay in advance, and they ask you to give a tip even before you get served. It makes absolutely no sense at all. I would recommend Pho 75 if you really want a good Pho!

The chicken pbo (picture included with this review) was delicious. This restaurant gives a generous amount of chicken. The pho broth is one of the best that I've had in a long time. The staff provides good customer service. The restaurant was clean and comfortable. I found it interesting to be able to see in the kitchen. This restaurant is well worth the visit.

Convenient as the closest pho place open during lunch. Good flavor. Intimate and group seating available. I had the shrimp pho and enjoyed it. The hot ginger tea is amazing!! I would recommend and eat here again.

It’s $6 Thai iced tea and this is how much they give you. Probably not even 10 oz. Smell from the restroom is awful. Service needs to be improved or just do only take out. Egg rolls is very good tho.

I had never eat a bad “bun bo hue “ like this one in my entire life. Believe me, I’m Vietnamese and I can say that the rest dont even try to cook the right way. I dont expect to be authentic like in Viet Nam but… How can you use the same broth as “pho” for bun bo hue?? And the rice noodle suppose to be round and thich, not flat and thin. What a lazy way to cook??! So pho and bun bo hue is the same, you just need to add some spicey and that is bun bo hue?! Really? I ordered “Pho” and “bun bo hue” is a small potion with very little broth as you can see in the pics. Definitely don’t worth the price!

I am sure some people had a great experience, but I am not one of those people. If you take anything from this, let it be that you should not use the QR code order system at all costs. My mother and I ordered with it, and waited nearly an hour for our food. There was a family that came in about 15 minutes after us who got their food and finished eating before we got ours. We checked in with our waiter and he asked the cooks about our table’s order, but there was a language barrier between our waiter and the cooks (and between us and the waiter.) When we finally get the food, we’re missing a side, extra bean sprouts that we paid for, and my mother’s order was wrong. The hot tea was also not hot. If all that stuff had happened in 15 minutes, fine, but an hour and a half passed from ordering to having everything resolved, and the only person who seemed sorry about it was the waiter. I also have no idea where the tips from online orders go and the language barrier was too great for us to ask if he sees any of it. I was thinking about using Google translate but the whole experience took so long that I was cutting it too close to catch my flight.

this is authentic rice noodle, whose flavor reminds me of the pho I had in Vietnam. just cleared the whole bowl. highly recommend :)
