We were recommended by some friends to check out this place because we wanted to taste some authentic Khmer cuisine. We were not dissappointed one bit! We tried the Phnom Penh Special both with liquid/noodles combined and with them separted - depends on your preference. The broth was perfect and I like the light, fatty meat and the cilantro garnishes. The place was small but felt cozy. Depending on the time you go, there may be a wait. This place is not ideal if you are a large crowd and want to sit all together, unless you are fine with sitting at separate table, which we were. The service was excellent and the pricing was reasonable.
This is a local favorite for the Cambodians in Long Beach. The food is very fresh and a fair amount for the money. The round bread is baked everyday with other baked breads. I have never left hungry or unhappy. There is always a crowd but the line goes fast.
Anything you get is bound to be delicious. You can ask for soup on the side for your noodles or have your noodle soup served altogether. They're usually pretty busy but it's definitely worth the wait. This place is a must try.
I had the pleasure of visiting Phnom Penh Noodle Shack in Long Beach and I must say it was the best Phnom Penh noodle I've ever had. This place is incredibly popular, and it's easy to see why. Despite how busy it gets, the service is friendly and top-notch. The cozy atmosphere of the restaurant adds to the experience, and I felt welcomed from the moment I stepped in. If you're in the area, I highly recommend you check out Phnom Penh Noodle Shack. It's a gem and not to be missed!
This place is so packed. You can join their waitlist on Yelp to prevent from waiting too long. Their waitlist system is pretty good. It tells where you are at on the waiting list, so you can time your arrival accordingly. However, the place doesn’t offer parking space, so you will need to give yourself 5-10 minutes to find the parking spot. There are usually more parking available on the small street behind the restaurant.
Their dry noodle bowl comes with a bowl of soup with a big pork bone. Their portion was good enough for an adult and a kid. It was good as expected from their popularity. We were not super impressed with their Me-Ka-Tang.
Phenomenal. Three of us came by for Friday lunch. At 1pm, only two of their ~14 tables were available. By 2pm, it was just us and a handful of other tables. Service is fast, and the street parking is doable, especially on Sherman Pl. Credit card accepted!
My friend and I shared a dry Phnom Penh house special ($15 for a large) and a fish rice porridge ($15 for a large). And wow, the broth in both dishes was fantastic. The noodles were a bit sticky, but pouring in some broth helped loosen them up and add great flavor. The cha quai (which I know as you tiao, or Chinese donut stick) was fried well and dipped wonderfully in the rice porridge.
This place was a delight. Highly recommend!
Very average food, ordered their signature noodle, however I was not impressed but little bit disappointed, the ingredients wasn’t fresh. It’s a small restaurant with few seats, hard to find parking, service is very slow.
A super pleasant surprise. This is my first time trying Cambodian food. I got the beef slices & meatball noodles dry with soup on the side. I thought the noodles would be plain, but they were stir fried with garlic flavor and quite delicious on its own! Squeezing a lime on top helps balance out the slightly oily, garlicky, slightly sweet savoriness of the dish, so I do recommend using the lime slices the dish comes with.
The broth on the side came with like the head of a pork shank with meat on it as well. It was a pretty hearty soup full of collagen that gels up the soup when chilled. Flavor wise it was a little sweet for me though. I preferred the flavor of the dry noodles by itself, so I'm very glad that you could get it separately.
