Pete's Safari - Zoo in Alda - 2070 S Engleman Rd, USA

This is a great place for kids and families! It is one of the best designed and maintained mom-and-pop attraction of any kind, let alone an animal park, we have ever been to. Some of the animals are accessible for the kids to go in their pens and pet. We had a great hands-on experience of feeding the animals with the ingeniously designed delivery systems they have installed, and several times the owner carried around animals for the kids to pet. There's a bounce house, carousel and train ride to keep the littles entertained too. They are only open Fri-Sat-Sun, so be sure to plan accordingly - but definitely plan a trip here!

What an awesome place! We had a wonderful time seeing all the animals! This was my favorite place that we went to in Grand Island. Wish I lived closer.

This was great! We did the monkey and sloth encounters and they were awesome. There are plenty of animals to see and pet some. I appreciate this family taking care of animals that could not be cared for elsewhere. Educational, entertaining, and friendly!! We will definitely be making stops there again.

Took my grandson. We had a great time. Lots of exotic animals. Very well maintained. My grandson loved the small turtle. We were both impressed!!

Pros - Cost was inexpensive. - Variety of familiar and unique animals. - You can fees most of the animals by hand or by a feeding shoot. - You can get quite close to the animals or enter a few cages with the goats or rabbits. - Staff is friendly and helpful. Cons - Open Fri-Sun from noon to 6pm so not open early when the weather is cooler.

Very kid oriented. Hands on. Great way to spend the afternoon.

Pete and his wife have an incredible zoo! My boyfriend and I are road-tripping to Chicago from California and we found Pete’s Safari on Google Maps. We were greeted by the friendliest women at the front door. Admission was $8 per person and food was $2 per cup, which was a steal! The diversity of animals at the zoo is amazing. To name a few — they have a camel, an arctic fox, and lemurs from Madagascar. You can feed almost all of the adorable animals and pet many of them too. Pete, the owner, was there bringing out baby animals for everyone at the zoo to pet and enjoy. As we were leaving, Pete’s wife was kind enough to introduce herself and offer us some of her yummy freeze-dried goodies for our road trip. She sells these at the front counter and they are very tasty. (Thank you for our first freeze-dried candy experience!) We are so appreciative and glad to have stumbled across this wonderful place. We will be back. If you happen to live nearby, or even far away, we would 100% suggest stopping by. You won’t regret it!
