Wonderful location for this year’s Hudson River Seafood Festival this past weekend with beautiful views of the river and the town of Newburgh on the opposite side. Named for one of the greatest folk singer and activist of the 20th Century Pete Seeger and his wife Toshi

Beautiful park on Beacon Waterfront with views of the Newburgh Beacon Bridge. Went for a Corn Fest. Live music, food vendors, fun time! Sailboat named after Woody Guthrie docked there.

Strawberry Fest at Pete and Toshi Seeger Park was just perfect. The park is on a spit of land surrounded by the Hudson River on both sides. Lovely piece of property and a nice playground for the kids. Today the Beacon Sloop Club hosted Strawberry Fest - the best ever strawberry shortcake and strawberry smoothies. Shortcake baked on the premises, strawberries hulled and sliced by volunteers the night before. What a lot of work for an all volunteer group! There were activists tabling for a pleathera of causes, vendors selling all sorts of stuff and two stages of music. And dogs of all breeds and mixtures. No charge for admittance, free sails on the Woody Guthrie, the Sloop Clearwater was there. Pete would be proud of the way his Sloop Club carries on his vision of bringing people to the River even without him. Corn Fest in August is next.

This park is parallel to the Metro-North station. It has a nice path and faux pool. Nice scenery and lots going on. Parking is available. Bench also available. So relaxing

This is the site of the seasonal festivals put on by the Beacon Sloop Club, starting with Strawberry Festival, and going through the year to Corn.Festival and Pumpkin Fest. Pete and Toshi were always there. His Sloop, the Clearwater docks just down the road when it is in Beacon. The other boat is the Woody, or the Woody Guthrie named after Pete's friend. It is a Ferry Sloop. Beacon Sloop Club had her totally restored a few years ago. They work hard on keeping Pete's dream of bringing people down to the River alive. If you know the River, you want to protect it like Pete did. They offer free sails week nights on the Woody as part of that tradition and will do so again when the pandemic subsides.

Definitely worth visiting the pretty Fishkill Overlook Falls when you visit Beacon. We got to see the falls when the sun was out as well as in the dark. I really liked the projected lights that they use. We parked in the 'parking lot for 46 cars' and

This is a moderate difficulty trail. Great views from the top, worth the extra mile to go to the fire tower. Bring good shoes, and enough water, you'll probably be sweating on the way up.
