Perky's Restaurant - Steak house in Altavista - 802 Wards Rd, USA

Celebrated our anniversary by reserving a table on a Thursday night. So glad we did! Jennifer was our waitress and she was stunning. I had the seafood platter, more than enough food for one person. He had the cowboy cut pork chops and we both very much enjoyed our meal. I also sipped on a margarita and it packed a punch! It can get very loud, it’s a small restaurant and the walls are lined with license plates. Dress and atmosphere are casual. I would not recommend getting the burrito style cheesecake dessert to go, eat it at the restaurant.

Simply the best steaks ever. The level of beef he serves impeccably cooked in the best seasons. The grilled shrimp is fabulous. All of the sides are fresh and often vegetables are the best of what's in season. Greg and his darling wife along with a staff they have employed for a long time will see to it that you are well fed. If we lived closer we would be there weekly but when we do it's always a pleasure from start to finish. Get reservations as everyone shares our opinion!

Recommended by the hotel staff. Was packed for a Tuesday night. Small town, they closed at 9pm but the owner does the cooking himself. Food was awesome (Chicken & Scallops). The staff had it down to a science. Cool atmosphere. Local joint with lots of flavor!! Check it out while your in town!!

Love this place. Great food. Good beer list. Wine and full bar available. Great staff. Fresh fish. Excellent steaks. Love the crayfish appetizer. Excellent burgers available Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday. Frequently long wait for a table on Friday and Saturday evenings.

You will not be disappointed. I would have a hard time describing how satisfied I was during my visit to Perky’s. There is a wide variety of entree selections although if you’re a carnivore like me the steaks here are to die for. The meat is juicy, tastes clean and is not overly seasoned. You also have a good selection of sides but I really loved their slaw. Perky’s is a must for any family or couple.

Stopped because we were in the area. Very impressive place. Excellent food quality for the price and great wait staff. Would drive out of my way to stop in again.

This is a home run every time and never disappoints! The jalapeños cheddar bites are spicy but soooo delicious!!! Salads are a perfect size and the steaks….OMG the steaks!!! I had a petite filet and my wife had a rib eye and every morsel was gone! The char from the grill adds the best flavor and whatever the seasoning is just perfection!!!! We both had mashed potatoes and corn as our sides and were good. Cheese cake with strawberries for dessert. It was huge and delightful however the strawberries were a little frozen….it didn’t stop us though! I recommend reservations unless you go between 4-5pm. We have thought about driving from NC to eat here on several occasions!!! Worth every penny!
