We really throughly enjoyed our stay. Our cabins were beautiful. The pool was amazing. However we decided to try out the lodge restaurant. We loved being able to stay on property to eat dinner. However that decision is what ruined our stay. We had reservations for 7pm for 8 guests. We get there and sit down. No one greets us. They just give menus. 20 minutes later a server brings water. She said “I’m ONLY bringing you water.” We had to wait an additional 10 more minutes before our server came to us. No smile. Didn’t introduce her self. She was looking at us like we were an inconvenience. She took forever to take our order. It took almost an hour for our salads to come out. We ordered toasted ravioli, they were not cooked all the way through and cold. Over half of them had no filling in them. At this point it’s 8:15. The restaurant is supposed to close at 8. We had to hunt our waitress down to tell her we wanted to change our order to Togo. Because it was absolutely ridiculous. She gave us an attitude about it. Finally. At 8:30. An hour and a half after our reservation. We got our food. The server who was checking us out was really rude and trying and started going back in to the cabin. This is supposed to be a high end establishment. We paid a GOOD amount of money for our dinner. It should be a crime to pay the amount that we paid, for the food we received. We were missing half of our items. No rolls. Chicken was cold. Lasagna had no meat and tasted horrible. Steak was so tough we had to use our hands to eat it since the plastic cutlery couldn’t handle it. We are heading home today and the only thing we can talk about is how horrible our experience was. Our family has all been in the food service industry. We are very patient and understanding. But this is ridiculous and something needs to change. They never apologized.

If you are looking for a quiet place to get away with your family or friends, and truly enjoy each other‘s company I would definitely come here. We have been coming here since my son was little, normally in the winter time to see the Eagles. Recently, we came in the summer and it wasn’t as busy. We stayed an extra night and had time to utilize the pool, hot tub, game room, grand room, and hiking trails. Having a restaurant here is super convenient. They were open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We brought our own snacks for game night, so we could eat in the grand room with a waterfront view. We always stay in the lodge which is affordable. They are always pretty roomy and clean. Would like to check out the cabins someday.

Michele's wine bar is supposed to be open on Sunday's, and it was closed. When I asked the lady at the front desk about it, she said "Well it is open if she doesn't have another engagement, if she does it isn't open." It does not mention this at all on the site. The Lodge smells of mildew throughout. Robin at the restaurant was nice and made us drinks. We will be having dinner later, and will update on that after we eat. We had fried chicken and it was okay, but our server Emma was amazing.

We enjoyed our 3 day stay in spite of a heat wave| We stayed in the lodge. Our room was clean and comfortable and the bed perfect: we slept well! Bathroom was fine . No problem with water temperature. |We ate several times in the restaurant and found the food quite good and reasonably priced. Our servers were friendly and service fast. |Yes the building may seem "dated "to some but this is a CCC lodge with a long history and I expect that lhistoric lodge feel and and look . I don't want ultra modern.|If I have a " complaint" it's that the room could have used additional or better lighting and we could never get the room cooler than 75 or 76. We wanted a bit cooler for sleeping |All in all a positive experience and would like to return!

I imagine this was once a very beautiful place, but it seems that it is now in desperate need of an update. The flagstone paths outside are in bad shape and I had to take my wheelchair out onto the driveway to get around (I kept getting stuck and needed help getting out). The couches in the cabins were disgusting. I'm not saying you need to replace them, but perhaps buy a Little Green Clean Machine? The cabins were extremely dark and cramped. The lodge rooms were much brighter, but everyone in our wedding group on the 2nd floor was having trouble with air conditioning (the rooms were over 80° and the humidity was off the charts. We booked a handicapped accessible room, which means a shower chair and bathtub handrails (the entryway to the room was extremely difficult to navigate in a wheelchair). Everything looked very cluttered, dated and dark in the common areas. Investing in a second entrance to the restaurant area would be very sound, to keep random people from walking through wedding ceremonies (but, that is also an etiquette issue for those that did it). The location is beautiful and the staff is friendly, but if you're looking to silently invest in something - check them out.

For a little background, I have dined at the restaurant at the lodge many times over the last two decades. We come for the views and the nostalgia, but we had a “three strikes and it’s out” experience tonight, as our previous two dinners mirrored our experience today. Even though the restaurant had only a handful of patrons, the staff were incredibly inattentive and seemed uninterested, the service was very slow with meals coming out seemingly out of order. The food itself was just very ok. I know that it was a busy day today with the peach festival going on and there appears to be a staffing issue, but I don’t write reviews like this often knowing that somedays are just off days. But as I mentioned l before, this has been the consistent theme in our previous visits. I do hope there is opportunity in the future for them to run a bit of a tighter ship I definitely will be back to Pere Marquette itself, but we will opt in for a restaurant in town. The park itself is very beautiful and has lots of great places to see views, or go on hikes, and it’s just down the road from the cute little town of Grafton and the free ferry.

Kids had fun. The place is awesome. That being said, a few updates and this place would be perfect. The food is good but could be great. The room was nice but needs some work. The bathrooms are dated. The beds are not the best. Hot tub lining is separated from the concrete. Exterior suffered serious damage in a recent storm that still needs attending to. Great time overall though.

Stayed over the memorial day weekend amazing scenery. The room was fine however we needed to get rid of trash we asked the front desk where we could empty our trash and no one could give us an answer. While we were at the front desk, we asked for more bathroom supplies, but for some reason, they wouldn't give us extra lotion. One other thing that was upsetting is Monday morning we were awakened to a gardener on his lawnmower. Before 9 o'clock and before checkout time. Seems to me they could have waited until people had checked out on a holiday.

It was an amazing experience! We took some snacks and picnic stuff there, really enjoyed a whole afternoon with friends taking sky tour and riding slide and simply enjoying the view. It's less than one hour outside Saint Louis, worth it to go!
