Pennyweight Hotel Boston, Curio Collection by Hilton - Featured Reviews (1013)
The room was pretty but the fact I had to wait 1/2 hour for hot water was ridiculous and when I used the hairdryer the power went off the staff were great and very responsive. They were kind and accommodating for my mom’s special needs. Location was good and price was reasonable just need to work on plumbing and electrical. Also no coffee maker in room or front desk I need coffee
Compact posh room, very nicely designed. Elegant bathroom. Comfortable bed. Huge screen modern TV. Tiny table (hard to do laptop work on it for too long). In the room (902), the Internet was slow (<10Mbps). The conference room was small and under renovation, so I couldn't access it. No breakfast area. The front desk graciously held packages for me, but security was lax - one package was left on the counter and anyone could've taken it. The area is Boston downtown - not much to do, or places to eat.
The restaurant and bar are under renovations! This would have been helpful to know before our stay. Hilton’s website had beautiful pictures of the bar and food, also our reservation included a daily food credit. What a joke! The portable air conditioned lobby offers 2 chairs and bottled water, soda and a few snack for sale. No self serve water or coffee. It’s too bad the room focuses on design not functionality. It offered NO COFFEE POT and a tiny fridge packed with water to purchase. The desk barely held my laptop. It did offer branded wallpaper and pillow, plus bathroom lights that turned on with an app. On our second day when we asked for our room to be cleaned we were informed that we should have asked the night before. Curio, this is not. Hilton should be ashamed of misrepresenting this property.
Positive: I liked the modern, updated room and bathroom. The bed was surprisingly comfortable. The front desk staff were all very pleasant each time we interacted with them. It was perfectly located near some of the areas we planned to visit, too! Negative: ""
I saw a few negative reviews before staying at this hotel, which honestly scared me into staying here. I am glad to report - the rooms were nice. The door of the bathroom was broken, but other than that we didn’t have any issues. Yes, they are under construction. But there are plenty of food places near the hotel. The hotel even has a list of places near there to go to. The location was very convenient to TD gardens. We had a concert and got to walk straight to the hotel after with no issues. The staff was very nice and accommodating. Valet was great. Their system went down when we tried to text them to grab our car - but technology issues happen. They did a great job trying to remedy the situation. Check in was very easy. And check out was even easier.
Disappointed to say the least. Arrived with group of 5 of us. The hotel was under construction with no amenities available. Would have been nice to be informed of this prior to booking/arrival. We spoke to the concierge who informed us she would take off $100 a night for the inconvenience. After returning to speak with her again, she told us she would only take $100 off our entire stay and “ see what else we can do tomorrow”. When I pointed out she deceived us, and our entire party would leave if it was not corrected as she initially told us, she shrugged her shoulders and smirked. So, I guess her complete lack of professionalism was worth losing a few thousand dollars in revenue for the hotel. This wasted our time and was a huge inconvenience. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. They should fire that imbecile immediately. However, she is clearly a representation of how this hotel works.
Location is great but the place is under renovations and no one mentions it. The room is pretty but shower is not good. Also the walls are quite thin so when renovations (or something else that caused the large noise) were on the floor it woke us up. No coffee pot in the room or coffee anywhere to be had. Service was pleasant but really it's really not a hotel as long as the renovations are ongoing
Mixed review: |Pros:|Available and reasonable rate last minute |Able to check in under 21|Nice clean, comfortable room||Cons:|Near TD garden and concert had ended flooding streets with people. Uber unable to get close, so had to drag luggage blocks through crowds. |No food available nearby (due to under 21), food delivery options blocked due to road closures and concertgoers, and lobby snacks completely picked over. |Lobby under major construction so no place to lounge-construction zone. |Fee includes food credit, but really no food option other than picked over snacks. Should really not charge guests that fee while construction in progress.
