Pecan Penny's - Barbecue restaurant in Columbus - 113 E Main St, USA

Stopped for lunch on a Thursday. Free parking quick friendly service. Although the waiter said the chili was spicy it was only mildly spicy. Food was ok at best. The very tiny bowl of chili was $9. The pickle spear was $1. The half serving of fries, cheese curds and egg was $8 and was not good at all. Hopefully it was just an off day. I doubt I will try it again though.

This is what 30 bucks gets you, includes tip no drink. Wonderful looking restaurant, nice tables and nice service staff. The BBQ was undeniable, I couldn't eat it. The brisket was two small slices of beef jerky with extra salt. And the pulled pork was chopped fat. I did mention to the server that the pulled pork was mostly fat and there was not much concern. The only reason I posted this is because the past posted photos look so much better.

I had three meets, the one I like the most was the wings: they were tender and full of good flavor. Coming in slightly past that would be the brisket, also very tender and full of great flavor. After that I had the pulled pork which was also very good, but the pork I would put barbecue sauce on to top it. The wings in the brisket did not need any sauce.

The Food- it wasn't bad, we got wings, a hot dog, and nachos. We also had 3 pretzels. It wasnt bad food all of us agreed but it wasnt anything spectacular either. The Service- eh, it wasnt crowded and we was the girls only table. But she wasn't the best or the worse. We had to flag her down for water and the bill but it was ok. The Atmosphere- nothing much was around but it was active area. The outside part of penny's was good. They also had a fire pit which was pretty cool. Conclusion- it was all honestly in the middle it wasnt great but it wasnt bad. The coolest part was definitely the outside sitting area.

The food was great. The only reason why I'm not giving 5 stars is they did not have ribs available. The Daddy-G sauce was so good that we bought a bottle. Service was excellent other than all other tables seated while we were there were offered a restaurant week special and we were not. The vibe was great. I imagine there are long waits when weather is nice. It really is a fun place.

Had the Downtown Sampler: I'm full! Brisket was fork tender & flavourful. Pulled pork was tasty. Chicken very good. Mashed potatoes with gravy. Baked beans were delicious. Nice beer selection. WiFi speedy. Restroom was clean. Only complaint: took 15+ minutes to take my order. The restaurant wasn't that busy. However doesn't take away from the entire experience. I would dine again.

My husband had eaten here before and really enjoyed it. Great exterior nostalgic feel. Nice urban/industrial style interior w plenty of outside table offerings. Dinner style horseshoe counter and bar. Lots of TV's for sports fans. There was a bit of an off-putting smell when we entered. Not sure if it was a combo of cleaning supplies w day old beer or what Want what you would expect from a BBQ restaurant. I wanted to be overwhelmed w BBQ smells. Can't say enough good things about our waiter, Drew! Friendly, knowledgeable, approachable. Just a good guy! Thanks! Food options were great! Tried the make your own bbq bowl. Had chedder grits, brisket, pickled veggies, coleslaw and cornbread croutons. I may be missing something. It was fun selecting the combinations. The other plate was a brisket sandwich w waffle fries. It was tasty. Didn't care for the vinegar bbq sauce. Penny's original was the winner at our table. Tops of dispenser bottles could have been cleaned. We would return and try new menu items👍

Good, but nothing will blow you away Thursday special - meat & 3 sides St Louis Ribs - tasty, very heavy on the rub Baked Beans - okay Hush Puppies - little disappointed, more like crunchy corn balls Waffle Fries - were excellent when hot Sweet Tea - good Banana Pudding - good+ Like I said at the start, nothing will blow you away, but nothing terrible either. Service was fantastic, shoutout to Echo
