We stayed here before the start of our trip down Skyline Dr.in the Shenendoah National Park If possible we like to find the old fashion "Motels" because that's the era we grew up in. This one was a treasure! The room looked like someone's guest bedroom with attached bath. Cozy and very very clean. It even had a rocking chair with a red and white checked cushion. No typical hotel furnishes or tacky paintings. It was just like being home. Oh, I forgot to mention the little black and white doggy - another homey touch! Very nice people too!
The Parkside is the motel of your nostalgic dreams. Clean, simple, safe, and locally owned, it's a great value. The rooms have all been remodeled by the new owner - who used to the mayor of Front Royal, apparently. Super convenient to the Park and they offer suggestions and discounts to local attractions including canoe and kayak rental at the outfitter located on site. ||||Did I say clean? Really clean. And felt very safe - I was travelling alone.
When started our trip we decided not to stay in any chain hotel. On arrival to the hotel we did not reservations, we found a note on the front door stating "That if you are needing a room please call and then a phone number.' So we did and someone came within 5 minutes to check us in. When we open the door to our room we were very pleasantly surprised. The room was newly remodeled and very clean. The bathroom had the vintage sink and so was the tile, which I thought was very cool. The only thing I can say about the room was it was a standard bed and the mattress sunk in the middle. We would most definitely stay again. And rate was unbeatable.
My husband and I stayed here for one night in October and we really thought this was a great value for the money. As far as appearances, the outside is charming with the white metal railings and hanging flower pots. It reminded me of the hotels my mother would choose when my sisters and I were little girls. The room was small compared to most franchise hotel rooms in the US, but larger than what I have experienced in Europe. The furnishings made it feel larger than it was, though. There was no closet, but there was an area above the dresser where you could hang a few clothes. There were no clothes hangers, so if you want to hang items, bring your own. I did suggest to Deb, from the front desk, this might be a welcome addition, so hopefully, they will spend a few dollars and invest in those. || The bedroom floor was a nice surprise. It looked like wood laminate and had an area rug on top for warmth. Very nice and cozy. The bed was surprisingly comfortable. The attached photo looks like the bed has one of those cheap nylon comforters, but this one was actually very soft and warm. There was a nice upholstered chair in the corner and I took advantage of it while my hubby was napping. I was able to connect to the free Internet easily and the connection was good. || There were a lot of cable wires hanging against the wall under the flat screen TV. Not a huge issue but, kind of messy looking.|| The bathroom is very small, but very cute and appears to have the original sink and faucets. The tub might be original, as well, but no worries because it was very clean. The floor was obviously original and even with a crack, we didn’t mind. We liked the charm. There was a rack with shelving above the commode for all our toiletries. Nice addition since the original sink had no counter space. There was a bar of soap offered, but don’t expect the other extras like shampoo, conditioner and lotion. We didn’t mind because we usually bring our own anyway. Just keep this in mind if you decide to stay here. There also is no hair dryer or iron and ironing board. I have natural curly hair, so a hair dryer isn’t an essential item for me, and my husband, well, let’s just say he hasn’t used a hair dryer in many years. I am not sure if you can “borrow” an iron from the office. We didn’t ask.|| The location is also good and not too far to walk to several restaurants. It took us a couple of minutes to walk to a nice Italian place for dinner and about 15 minutes to walk to Main Street where there were a lot more restaurants. || All in all, this was a really cute, friendly, clean, charming place to stay and we would probably stay there again if in the area. For the difference in the price of a chain hotel, it was a pleasant stay.
The basics - a clean bed and bath and tv - at a very good price. Friendly proprietors. As close as you can get to the entrance of Shenandoah National Park as you can get. A pool (though we were there in the fall and it was closed.) My husband and I like straightforward motels and so appreciated our stay here.
After reading the reviews here, I decided to stay here. The office was closed at 8:30pm. I called the phone # on the door and after calling I was told to call back in 5 minutes. I did and was told there was room available but the front desk girl was at the grocery store and would be back in 20 minutes. I said that I would wait the 20. After 40 minutes with no vehicles having pulled into the parking lot I left. The rooms may be quaint or nostalgic but the service was nonexistent.
There were bed bugs in the room and they said nothing. They don't supply toilet paper, linens, or pillows and they have never provided a turn-down service. The only saving grace is that they have an onsite laundry facility.
This place is fantastic. They just renovated everything and it is SO nice for the price. The guy who runs it is super nice and helpful. The Internet is fast, the TV's are new, the bathrooms are nice, and everything is clean. Can't wait to come back.
Honey and Hops is my go to spot! I tried their mead for the first time with a friend in 2022 and itâs been our collective favorite ever since. The atmosphere is great and the drinks are even better. My personal favorite is the blue raspberry warhea
I can't say enough of this place. The twins are awesome. The house is beautiful and decorated exquisitely and also for Halloween. Friendly bar to meet and greet everyone, and the rooms are great! And breakfast, oh my! Fresh eggs from their own chicke
This was such a wonderful experience! My first time skydiving and the staff made me and my friends feel so comfortable and welcome. They were very thorough on the ground about what to do and what we could expect in the air. The pilot was really great
Great owner, very nice man. He'll help you find what you're looking for in the store. & Cigarettes are very reasonably priced. I won't buy smoke anyplace else.
