We popped into the bar at this hotel, The Gilded Perch, which is open to the public, for a mid-afternoon drink. Lovely setting in a beautiful hotel and very friendly bar staff made it a very pleasant experience. We even fitted in a quick game of chess. Highly recommended.
It was a hot day and the hotel bar was a welcome sight. Very friendly reception and was pleasant sitting on the porch with a beer. Recommended. The hotel is beautiful with historical furniture, Aircon and free chilled water, easy to reach from the french quarter on the tram/street car.
We had a wonderful stay at the Park View Historic Hotel! The location right on the streetcar line is a bonus! The interior is very well kept and the staff is helpful and sweet. We had great drinks at the hotel bar, The Gilded Perch! There is convenient street parking and Audubon park is right next door!
50 stars! Spent an afternoon drinking at the bar. The bartender was grand! The cocktails exceeded all expectations. My buddies and I meet a Reverend and his wife who were in-town to visit their daughter at collage. The conversation was great not what we expected. You never know who you’ll meet and get to know randomly.
This hotel is a true NOLA jewel with grand service!
My wife’s family booked the entire hotel for most of them to stay at during our wedding; we also used it as a spot to take photos and hang out before and after the wedding. The staff was mostly very accommodating of that and it was a beautiful space! They do keep the bar open to the public so keep that in mind if booking the entire hotel as some of us were not aware. I also had a chance to see several of the rooms and while they are certainly historic, they have been updated where it’s important such as comfortable beds, AC etc and the bathrooms look great.
I gave 4 stars instead of 5 since we were promised the bar would stay open til 11, but it was closed upon our return around 10:30. That would be my one suggestion for improvement. Thanks to the Park View for accommodating all of us!
This B&B was a wonderful surprise as the first I've been too. Although it keeps with the Victorian style throughout, the bathrooms are updated, and everything was very clean. Service was friendly and helpful. Only downside for me is that I'm a side sleeper and the beds were comfy but a bit soft for how I usually sleep. The location is beautiful and right next to a lovely park and plenty of walkways!
This is an old house that has been refurbished. I would call it quaint and charming. It’s more of a Bed and Breakfast than a full service hotel. With that in mind, I give it a good review. It’s not deluxe or luxurious, but it’s in a wonderful, safe, picturesque part of town and there are no other hotels in this area as far as I know. It is directly across St. Charles Ave from Tulane University and is adjacent to Audubon Park. I chose it because I attended Tulane years ago and loved the area. I was attending a 5 day artists’ workshop nearby and needed a place to stay. As I was a solo traveler, I picked the Park View for its location. I also needed a place to park and wanted to feel safe. There is a very small parking lot behind the hotel with about 3 spaces. There is an area along the side street (Walnut, I think?) that says reserved for hotel and the whole side street has parallel parking available at no charge. I was always able to park in the lot or in the reserved hotel spaces. That was really important to me when returning after dark. Another nice feature, especially for the solo traveler, was the bar. I could get a glass of wine at the bar and sit on the big front porch after a long day and watch the activity on St Charles. The breakfast was usually fairly simple but adequate. Great coffee with chicory which I hadn’t had for years. Staying in this area made me fall in love with New Orleans all over again. I never even ventured to the French Quarter on this trip. It is a beautiful area in a beautiful city. Mary at the front desk was very helpful: carrying my bag up the stairs, getting ice for the room, and recommending a restaurant. Don’t expect service like a hotel chain-they are just not equipped for that. If you want a safe, peaceful place to stay out of the chaos of the Quarter, give Park View a try. I will stay here again on my next visit.
Lovely boutique hotel full of period pieces. The breakfast room is fabulous and a pleasure to spend time in, breakfast is generous and tasty. The rooms are individual and very comfortable however the mattress needed replacing in ours. The hotel has complimentary drinks and lots of places to relax in. The location is a tram ride from the centre (a bonus) and the trams stops directly outside.|We very much enjoyed our stay
