As a local guide based out of Newburyport, people often ask me what the best restaurant in town is. This is not a question: The Park Lunch takes the cake by a county mile. Food, price-per-bite, atmosphere, service - this place has it all in spades. Whenever I have someone visiting from out of town, this is where we go.

First time going here, and I thought it was good. The menu is varied and not crazy expensive. If you’re looking for fancy, this is not that place. They are a small neighborhood place. Based on the vibe of the place, I’d say about 90% regulars. But, welcoming to non regulars. I got the Italian Sausage with Ziti, could have made the sauce a little bit thinner, but that is probably personal preference. My only real complaint is the name… Park Lunch. We almost didn’t go there figuring that they were only open for lunch… hence the name. But, that is a MINOR complaint.

This place is really intriguing. It's a half step above a dive bar that serves incredible dishes. They have pictures on the wall of the local high school basketball team from the 1960s until present day. This establishment is what the large chains try to be as a hometown bar. If I didn't see the reviews, I never would have trusted seafood from a place like this. However, I'm glad I read the reviews! The fried clams are fantastic as everyone else is saying, but why aren't the fried scallops getting any love? They are incredible! Sweet tasting and fresh and fried to perfection. Somehow, they are cheaper than clams. Fried chicken finger dinner was also fantastic. Broiled haddock was above average.

I was referred to the park lunch by a guy I met at a gas station. I asked for the best place to eat, first think he asked back was "do you want to go where the locals eat or the tourist". Well naturally I said the locals. I was not disappointed. Best clams I've ever had. Great portions, awesome service, wonderful atmosphere.

Really great fried clams. Busy local spot with excellent fresh seafood and classic diner options. Staff is efficient. Clams are full bodies with a crisp light batter and come out HOT. I’ve had their specials in past and been very pleased.

I had the avocado lime grain bowl with short rib, and it was remarkably tasty and filling. The grain bowl itself is only $11.95 but having the short rib bumped it up another $6.00; however I still feel it’s a good deal and it was the only meal I ne
