Paradice Motel - South Lake Tahoe - Featured Reviews (105)
The room, including carpet, furniture, walls, were filthy. The thrift store furniture was scratched. Filthy blinds didn’t shut out light. No curtains. Torn and stained lampshades, one lamp nonfunctional. Broken shelves and dangling door latch in bathroom. Mold in shower, loose toilet. Bed was way too soft that caused severe back pain. A/C extremely loud and not working properly. I slept for only two hours because of all of this. Owner told me not to flush TP down the and to put it in the open basket waste receptacle, even with poop on it! The blanket smelled of mildew which the owner replaced w another smelly blanket, then a third that was okay. She said sarcastically “Be careful the coffee might give you diarrhea.” This was after I asked for a refund. She also said she was very rich and had 4 motels. I suggested she spend some of her money fixing this one up. She was rude from the time we arrived. Her office had a filthy fish bowl in it, her reception desk was covered and stacked high w papers and unopened mail and the office smelled like a pet store. The photos (and reviews) she has posted online are from years ago when somebody else owned it. I mentioned that to her and she said “well you know how photos can be”. I asked for a refund and she refused it. We only stayed one night even though we paid for two. I told my credit card company about her misrepresentation and filed a claim.
Two Nights of Torture - Horrible Stay
My recent stay at this hotel was a complete nightmare. From the moment we entered the room, it was clear that most of the furnishings looked like they were picked up for free from the street or the neighborhood. The placement of the furniture was illogical, with a table blocking the A/C unit. As soon as we turned it on, it would shut off, leaving us suffocating both nights.
The bed was another torture box—bigger than the frame, with the topper hanging off the edges, looking like it was picked up from the street. The bathroom mirror was broken, and the vanity light had mismatched bulbs of different colors. There was no coffee machine in the room, and we had to use our own toilet paper. Spider webs were everywhere, and the furniture was covered in dings and holes. The carpet was so filthy that we didn't want to walk on it.
The lady who runs the hotel is incredibly rude and lacks basic etiquette to deal with customers. She clearly cannot manage the property. The office was always closed when we needed assistance, and when we did manage to speak with her, she acted like she didn't understand us. We asked for housekeeping, and all she did was pick up the trash. The bed remained unmade, wet towels were left on the chair and bed, and there was no replenishment of toilet paper or toiletries.
At 4 AM, people were talking loudly in the parking lot for hours, smoking weed, and disturbing our sleep. No action was taken. It's clear that she is trying to run a one-man show but is completely failing, which is reflected in her frustration and very rude behavior. The office itself was filthy and dirty, with so much stuff and webs everywhere.
This hotel is a disaster. My advice is to hire someone to handle the basic ground jobs because the current management is utterly incompetent. Avoid this place at all costs!
Positive: The staff member who checked me in on 6/14 was very professional, friendly and welcoming. He also gave me beach passes the next morning. Negative: Very minor items - the tv remote that controls volume needed a new battery and the shower drain didn't work very well but neither was a big deal.
This is a terrible motel! The room was dirty, poorly maintained and very disappointing for the price! Dirty carpet, smelly blanket, old tacky second hand store furniture, and the bed was terribly soft w no support. I couldn’t get my money back so we stayed. The manager told me not to flush toilet paper (even if I went poop) and to put used TP in the garbage receptacle (which had no lid). Also noisy location. Gross! I wish I could post photos.
Positive: Lots of personalized service. Staff was incredibly helpful with recommendations and making sure I was taken care of Negative: ""
Positive: The towel rack Negative: The toilet leaked, the floor was uneven, it was dirty, the bathroom door didn't close.
Positive: Location! Within walking distance to virtually everywhere. Owner is great, gave us a free upgrade, and had coffee/tea/hot chocolate ready each morning. Although not a luxury hotel, the room was clean and surrounding area felt safe. Negative: The only thing is that the AC was not working properly and the room felt pretty hot. When we were in the room, we left door open to get the fresh air from outside. The room also could use some dark curtains to block the sunlight in the early morning. Negative: ""
Paradise Motel has clean rooms. Although they need to be updated, the toilet valve run the entire day and night. Just a simple $3 gasket will do the magic trick. Little things like those make you don't want to come back.
PS. They should separate the lobby/front desk and the host living area/kitchen. That first impression is what counts.

The place is really nice, the water is crystal clear but very cold. It's worth it to pay the $5.00 fee to see this beautiful place. In the middle of it there's an old house, scary but beautiful.
Went with my daughter and husband and came from the heavenly line since the wait at the resort was 2 hours! They helped us right away and we were able to get all the equipment we needed in a reasonable time frame. The staff are super friendly and acc
Beautiful hike to Eagle Lake that took about 30 min after the bridge. This time of year there was snow and ice on the trail that made it slippery but was worth the quick trip up and back.
Took this trail to go to Cascade Falls. It's flat for the first 5 mins or so and then becomes rocky and risky at the corners.
There is some construction work going on in the area so they have put up temporary boards marking the trail. Good job!
