Pappy's Cookin' - American restaurant in Flatwoods - 2135 Argillite Rd Ste L, USA

This says my visit was 2 months ago but I was here again Sunday march 3rd. I drove over just for lunch here with my daughter. We ordered from the menu and added the soup and salad. The food we ordered was great as expected. The salad bar was a bit disappointing this time. The boiled eggs weren't a little green but so much the white had begun to change. Most items on the bar didn't seem very fresh. Which was sad because on my first visit it was the freshest I had seen in a long time. It was Sunday and busy so i was surprised by that. But still not the reason for only 3 stars. I think I had 3 waitresses but I'm not for sure. I know Tamara was on our receipt and who came to our table the most and she was great. The other lady which we had the first time we came was awesome as well. She has the very short hair with the tattoo on her neck. Sorry we didn't get her name. But she was great and was working her butt off to make sure everyone was getting taken care of. But the 3rd was another girl I believe either had a lip or nose piercing wasn't so great. In fact she was quite rude in the way she was talking to coworkers in front if the entire restaurant. I almost left because of her. She seemed to be pretty full of herself and at one point was rolling her eyes as an older gentleman checked out and was trying to carry a conversation as if to say "shut up and go on" which really frustrated me. I will return and hopefully this day she was having a bad day because an employee with an attitude like that can absolutely knock business down. Nobody wants to eat somewhere where they feel like a burden.

The server that was supposed have been our server ignored us for 20 min. The other server came and took our drink and dinner order, because she seen we were getting ready to leave. The other serve complained we were suppose have been her table. She told her we were going to leave. She took the server that waited on us behind the wall and began to loudly complaine obout the situation.(we could hear plainly) Our server was very polite and apologized numerous times. She was very sweet. Positive side really liked our new server and the food was good.

This place was not what was expected. The food was okay but the mashed potatoes tasted like ones from the 3 minute bags. It was kind of expensive (more than expected). when we got our change back we noticed that we were $1.62 short. we went back to the register and questioned our waitress about it. she said that she “didn’t know we wanted our change change”. it isn’t the fact about how much money she took, it’s the fact she did it. we would have left a tip after if she would not have took it into her own hands. do not recommend this place.

A salad bar and the dish of the day, bow tie pasta with chicken, bacon, and Alfredo, were all very delicious! The waitress was kind, helpful and sincere. It's a great atmosphere and a nice place to eat some home cooking! Highly recommend. I'll be going again!

With no kitchen, dog ready to birth pups and having celiac, along with health issues at home and my parents, I didn’t plan on a thanksgiving meal this year. Well, Pappys Cooking was incredible as always. Their thanksgiving buffet with all the trimmings can be difficult for us with food restrictions. They helped mom gather all gluten free foods for me. 20 minutes later they were at my door. Love it!!! Great food, no dishes and all in time for the traditional nap. WTG

Good family style cooking in a relaxed atmosphere. The pulled pork was good and the Mac and cheese with fried cheese on top was delicious. Portions were just right of pork and sides. Service was friendly and they were quick with refills of drinks. Looking forward to going back.

Always a great experience with this place. Never had cold food, never had bad food. Always happy to eat at a local business. The y’all means all stickers also helps :)

I'm sorry, this is cafeteria food. I even asked specifically if the mashed potatoes weren't instant. She assured me they weren't and they take pride in the food. Her idea of REAL home-cooked food and mine must be vastly different. I won't be eating there again. *Replying to your response...Nobody offered to change my meal, or adjust my bill or anything. We had told the waiter the mashed potatoes tasted instant and i didn't enjoy the meal. So after we were ignored for a bit. We paid for both meals anyway even tho mine wasn't touched. Also we left a tip. Thanks
