The prices for the portions are quite high plus nothing comes with sides. The $9 large fry as a side was not enough for three people with their sandwich orders, didn't get a picture of the third item as it came out about 5 minutes after the first two. They also add a kitchen tip onto the bill which we didn't see any warnings about. The food was good but nothing really stood out. The atmosphere of the restaurant/ bar area was cool but with the above comments not worth going back for.
This was our first meal of the new Year and it was Ah-May-Zing! We are big BBQ people and heard good things. We sat in the back and had our dogs with us, they gave dog bowls which was nice. The burger was huge and I basically had to unlatch my jaw to take a bite was soo good, make sure to have it Pappy's way. We got a half rack for ribs and we wished we got more the sauce and rub were so good. The Mac and cheese to die for. Only complaint is that it was pretty cold and they never got around to turning the heater on next to us, other than that it was awesome and I highly recommend!
We (4people) shared everything!! We got full rack of ribs, bison burger, pulled pork sandwich and tri tip steak. We shared broccoli, mac and cheese and Cole slaw! Everything was truly delicious and would recommend going to the little pioneer town while you wait!!
First time visit to Joshua Tree area. I had read great things about the restaurants in Pioneer Town. We had a 20 min wait for a party of 3 at 5:00 pm on a Saturday. We were seated quickly and attended within a few minutes. The Mezcal cocktail I ordered was slightly disappointing because it was poorly balanced. It was just pure heat when you drank it until further dilution made it drinkable. The chips and salsa order took about 15 minutes and that was after I reminded them. It was salsa and chips that both came out of a store bought container. The salmon, broccoli and fries were excellent. Great flavor and seasoning. Overall, I think I just had higher hopes for this restaurant based on the reviews but it was still good.
I'm torn because I wanted to like and enjoy this spot given its rich history and 4.6 average review but my experience was not great. I'm a fan of the atmosphere inside the venue. When entering the main entrance, towards the left you'll see the bar area with a lot of seating. Towards the right you'll see a lot of seating split between two rooms and in the back room there's a medium size stage for live music. No one was playing during my visit. Sorry to say but the service was less than average during my visit. My group and I went after 5pm on a Friday and it was crazy packed. Our wait time was about 15 - 20 mins. My rating is not based on the wait time but on the actual service. The waitress we had was hospitable upon our initial ordering but she never came back around to get our drink orders when we asked for more time. She made at least 3 - 4 more passes in our area to tend to other customers but never checked back in with us. I had to wave at her to get her attention and that was a solid 10 - 15 mins after placing our food order. The food was average to less than average as well. We ordered the Bison burger made Pappy's way, Harriet's Chili Nachos, Steak Salad and a Dusty Boot drink. The bison burger was good but there was definitely more bun to meat ratio. The bacon for Pappy's way was too hard to the point that made my mouth uncomfortable when trying to chew it down. The waitress did inform us that they make the tortilla chips for the nachos in-house which I really enjoyed. The steak salad was decent, though it seemed fairly high priced for what it is. The tri tip was good and there's a good ratio of meat to greens. The Dusty Boot drink was not good. It tastes like a watered down old fashioned. This was a one and done place for me and my group. I'm sure it's more interesting with live music.
Cool location. 😎 amazing food. We had the ribs the tri tip cold slaw steak fries and mac and chz. Everything was delicious. Niki or our sever was very attentive and knowledgeable. Thanks Niki for the great first time experience!
Easily one of the best places to go in this part of the desert. The space is really cool, the drinks are good, and so is the food. If you’re into any of the history of this area then you probably already love it. Check in and seating is a little rough -some people get buzzers. Some are just in line until a table is ready. Get something from the grill menu and get the chili.
This place is the best wow it looks very old and it ouzes notalgia in the evening there live music alot of famous artists played here Paul mcCartney one of them. The food was fast served and awesome . The waiters were very nice and fun. I recommend to visit this place to anyone thats in the neighbourhood. We drove 2 hours for it and it was so worth it.
