Panama Hotel - Bed & breakfast in San Rafael - 4 Bayview St, USA

This was my third or fourth stay here. It is always a fun place and I like the downtown location. Every room is completely unique and I've enjoyed each one. My room this time had a chandelier in the bathroom! It has always been very quiet and I always sleep great when staying.

What a massive disappointment. I arrived 6:30PM on Friday, May 3, 2024 - no one at the front desk. Just a key in a lockbox. I walked in, and the place was trashed. I checked the room, it's not the one I booked online. Next morning, I bring all this up to the guy at the front desk. He shrugs it off defensively, "Renovation." he says. Repeatedly. The website said nothing about a renovation. As for the wrong room, he said, it was already booked. How could that be when I booked it online? ||The answer? ||"Renovation!" - He really said that.||And what about the website's complimentary breakfast? Nope! And yet, I'm being charged full price. I asked for the manager, was told manager manager Manny wasn't there. He may be in Monday. Or the following Friday. He's not there much, he said. Left a message for Manny to call, haven't heard from him. It's like I booked a room in Hooterville. Though I bet Arnold Ziffel's got better management skills.

OWNERS: Please inform your guest before they arrive that there is no restaurant or bar open downstairs which means no breakfast either. We arrived and the whole place was torn apart under construction. Lumber everywhere, paint cans on our porch AND construction starts at 6:00am!!! I came here last year and it was beautiful, so was very disappointed. If I had known the conditions of the hotel I would have stayed somewhere else. Not cool! You should let people know.

I decided to stay here because it was a 10 minute drive from a concert I was going to see at Angelico Hall located in Dominican University. Unfortunately, the hotel only has street parking that was for 2 hours during daytime hours and does not have its own parking lot. Street parking isn’t abundant either and parking late at night would not be fun. There was a small water leak in the tub in my room and some used shampoo that went unnoticed by housekeeping. When I went to return my keys on Sunday at 7:30am there was no one in the office and no instructions where to put them. Overall, I wouldn’t stay here again based on lots of little things that added up to not make a great stay.

this place is a dump...my room was 98.00 plus tax with a free breakfast. the room was cold, no heat, the wood around the doors and windows were rotten with mildew, there was no toilet paper, i checked in at 4pm and left at 5:30 same day. i could not stay there due to the comfort level wasn't there. i am allergic to mildew and began feeling sick. i have tried to come to a resolution about some type of adjustment on the price since; 1) it was so dirty, and 2) it was freezing cold and the linen on the bed smelt as though someone with a dirty body had already slept in them. DO NOT GO HERE, THIS PLACE SHOULD BE CONDEMNED, AND I AM REFERRING THIS TO THE BOARD OF HEALTH DEPARTMENT OF SAN RAFAEL.

Overpriced. All the electronics were old and the place seemed unsafe. There no shower head, fan and balcony door were broken and the microwave was super old. No cups for coffee and the sheets were probably not washed.

We booked this hotel via Agoda. The listing indicated AC (same on their website for the room), but the room had none, so we checked out immediately and asked for a refund. The front desk confirmed that we would receive a refund, but later when contacted denied that refund. In the end we had to resolve via a credit card dispute. Very dishonest hotel - starting with a dishonest listing and ending with dishonest promise of a refund.

We love this place. Grew up here so decided to stay with my sister for a family gathering. We reserved the Ken's Safari Room and they gave us a different room key in the lock box when we arrived. A little surprised they woudn't call with a change like that. We arrived late and the room we did get was nice. We love the funkiness of this place. Woke up to find no cream in the room for our coffee. I went to the the restaurant to get some and it is not open for what looks like renovations. Communication could have been much better avout the current limitation considering the location. The muffin place is not is not open on Mondays. We are going out for coffee/breakfast somewhere else
