This used to be a hidden gem, but others have found out how awesome the food is here. I have never had a bad experience and we love this spot for lunch or dinner. I am not embarrassed to say that I can't tell you about their burgers and was puzzled to hear some people ordering those today (maybe their burgers are top-notch like everything else?). This place has amazing gyros, falafel, and other really good vegetarian options as long as plenty of choices for the meat eaters. My wife gets lunch here with coworkers at least once a month and they keep going back for a reason. Don't sleep on the baklava either. When you enter the store just keep heading towards the back and you'll figure it out.
Food was excellent overall. Always love a good back of the grocery deli kind of place. Samosas: 11/10 Hummus: 8/10 Baba: 10/10 Falafel: 9/10
My husband and I both enjoyed the food from the diner and we were pleased with the variety of groceries. Truly enjoyed my greek salad and Baklava! But what really stood out was Ahmed’s kind, endearing conversation and warm welcome. The atmosphere in the dining part is casual unpretentious. My favorite place to get food!
First time visiting and as expected, the gyros were amazing. Great “cheat meal” treat! The owner came over and gave us a sample vegetarian samosa. Very kind of him to do that. Can’t wait to try some other items on their menu.
My husband and I tried the Deli! I was thrilled to find Ayran at the store (yogurt drink-blue/ green-yogurt drink with mint). I ordered a chicken kebab dinner, it came with deliciously spiced rice and sauce for the grilled chicken pieces. My husband said his shawarma was well-seasoned and delicious! We did not have time/room for baklava but we will return for sure.
I visit Pammel at least once a week. You'll enter through the grocery. It's the best place in town to pick up spices, dried beans, rice, and a wide variety of ethnic goods. The restaurant is situated in the back and is a must visit! The hummus, falafel, and baba ganoush are otherworldly. There are great vegetarian/vegan options, and everything is generous in portion and price. Grab a seat in the cozy dining area and you'll likely witness the owner interact with some of the regular patrons. Observe his patient, caring, and helpful demeanor and their enthusiastic faces as they place their order and you'll understand that what makes Pammel so special extends beyond the delicious food.
Is it the best halal food you'll ever have? No. But in a town as out of the way as Ames, it's great to have a place like it - a hard-working family run grill that can give everyone a try of what the food is like. Much respect.
Love the falafel - crispy and flavorful. The rice is so delicious, this is with the grilled paneer meal. Somosas are bomb, too!

Innamoratissimo! The cityâs definitive hole in the wall cafe downtown, under what was the old Bike World / Two Wheel Travel on Kellogg and Main. Great aesthetic, not too big nor too small. NOT wheelchair accessible due to the almost microscopic sta
