Palace Hotel Port Townsend - Hotel in Port Townsend - 1004 Water St, USA

I knew this hotel was old, no elevator, and no A/C. But it was highly rated and one of the very few, which allowed only a 1 night stay. I'm glad we didn't stay any longer because it was not what I expected. We booked one of the apartments on the upper floors in late August. Big mistake if you have heavy luggage and trouble walking up large flights of stairs! The room itself was spacious and charming, matching the old style of the building. However, it was warm and musty due to the age, exposure to outdoors with windows open with a box fan, and oscillating fan at full speeds blowing everything around. I could feel my nasal passages and throat close up immediately upon entering the room! I am a very light sleeper and could hardly sleep that night due to my breathing issues, the noise of the fans, and the hardness of the bed! I found the only redeeming value to this room was its view out the bedroom windows in the morning and the location of the hotel itself in regards to walking around downtown. Our friends had an even worse experience when they opened the door to their room to find a spiral staircase up to the loft with a king-size bed. Needless to say, we won't be coming back to this hotel again.

We stayed at the Palace Hotel for our anniversary and could not have been more pleased with the location, service and ambience of this historic Victorian era hotel. Situated in downtown Port Townsend on the main street, it's near shops, restaurants and beautiful water views. While we did not get the visit from Claire that we were hoping for, we were happy we stayed and would stay here again! Our room was well-appointed and the bed was comfortable!

Wonderful historic hotel in heart of downtown, with their own parking lot. Accept dogs, great rooms & beds and love their blood orange scented soap & shampoo. Very friendly. Note there is no elevator or AC, but not really needed. Open windows on weeknights are perfect as businesses are not open late.

Positive: Large room and bathroom, had microwave, mini fridge, high tech air purifier, wardrobe, very large windows, tv with lots of channels. Historic three story building with an interesting history, lots of rooms and lounge areas to explore Negative: The particular room we had was right above the exhaust vent from a pizza shop below. The shower was smaller stall type. Pillows very soft (if you prefer firm). Stairs only to upper rooms. Gravel parking lot in back but no entry to hotel from back side

We stayed here for two nights. It’s a lovely old building. The rooms are really nice and you can’t beat the location for enjoying every charming part of Port Townsend. For a comfortable stay in a cute setting to enjoy the area, we recommend Palace Hotel and we’d stay here again in the future.

The Palace Hotel is sweet historic building in the heart of downtown Port Townsend steps from a little swimming beach, restaurants and shops. Our room was huge, yet quaint, with high ceilings, was super clean and had a little kitchen and sitting area. The bed and bedding (so important) was comfy and the staff could not have been more friendly, helpful and engaging. We would most definitely stay here again and I would highly recommend it to anyone coming to stay in the area!

Lovely hotel in a great location in Port Townsend. Room was spotless and provided everything needed for an unusually hot day in the PNW. Box fan and portable air conditioner got the room to a comfortable temp during the day and large windows provided plenty of air during the night. Large eating area and kitchen just off the bedroom provided more than enough room. Will stay here again every trip to Port Townsend!

This hotel is cozy and I loved the unique Victorian theme. It’s in the best location for walking to shops, restaurants, and along the ocean. The front desk staff was helpful with honest recommendations and suggestions for meals and activities nearby. The rooms were stocked well with toiletries. Lastly, I felt very safe. The neighborhood and location felt safe to walk around at night.
