What a gem of a place to begin our Maui adventure. The space is decorated with hip, local, authentic Hawaiian art and is filled with thoughtful and tasteful touches that delighted immensely, especially outdoors. The patio beach overlook is wonderful. I spent plenty of time there reading and writing and being relaxed by the wind in the trees and roar of the crashing waves. Oh, and how special to watch the magnificent Hawaiian Green turtles. We started our vacation here, and we liked it so much that we ended our vacation in the same spot. Highly recommend this place. Staff were friendly and attentive as well. Mahalo to everyone keeping this place sublime.

Great place to stay in Paia!! This trip I didn't want to rent a car and wanted to stay somewhere with high walkability- the Paia Inn is it. Centrally located in town with walking distance to great restaurants and a local grocery store, with the best smoothies. The beach in front of the hotel has eroded but it is an easy walk to Lower Paia beach from the hotel. And I found lounging on the beach chairs under the tree at the hotel as equally relaxing and a great alternative to being in the sun. THE BEST part of Paia Inn though- is Rhea and Holly, who are incredibly warm, hospitable and accommodating. Mahalo!!

This hotel is not as advertised. The hotel's website shows a beautiful wide sandy beach and while it is on the water, it is nowhere close to wherever that photo was taken. We checked into a hotel that advertised "on the beach" with a restaurant and bar. There is a bar area that looks like it has been abandoned. The restaurant is closed. Our room was over the main street and was noisy. The bed was comfortable, but that was the one highlight. There is nowhere to put your clothing--very small area for hanging clothes and no drawers for other clothes. The safe did not work (and I wouldn't recommend leaving any valuables in the room). The sink had no counter space at all and was in the small chamber with the non-closet.||We were told that the beach was not accessible from the hotel property, but we could go down to public beach (no lifeguards) by walking down the highway about 200 yards. We went there and it was a campground--the only people there were homeless and camping out. Not at all safe for families.||We checked out after 2 nights (supposed to be 5 nights). The hotel requires payment upfront so beware. After complaining, the owner called to offer us a cottage, but to be honest it would not have changed the fact that there was no beach access or a restaurant. He also offered for us to go to a beach club down the street but that wasn't offered to us to begin with and frankly, it looks like a shack and was not inviting at all. ||I would give this hotel 1 star and that is only because the bed was comfortable. The people at the front desk were very nice and I felt sorry for them since I'm sure they take most of the complaints. Note that this is not an inexpensive stay. We paid nearly $600 per night. I didn't expect it to be a resort, but I did expect more of what was on the hotel's website. ||I did check the reviews when I booked, but it was difficult to locate the bad reviews as they were hidden, but when I did fine them (once we arrived) they indicated the same experience that I am giving here. ||Cute town, but don't stay here. You can visit the town for a few hours and then go to Wailea in 40 minutes. It is more expensive, but well worth it.

We stayed one night at the Paia Inn and Rhea was so accommodating during our checkin process. It was clear that our presence was valued, and that it was a priority that we had what we needed before turning in for the night. We found the standard room size to be fine for our purposes (we were spending most of our time exploring the island, not in the room). The room was clean, hot water was robust, and the complimentary tea and coffee was a nice touch. Parking was easy, and we enjoyed exploring the hotel beach during sunrise. Would certainly stay again! Thank you!

Adorable hotel, centrally located, kind staff and good amenities. There were 2 roaches in our room but that comes with the territory in HI. But there was also a lovely gray cat that came to our door every evening. The restaurant looked lovely but we did not partake. The pizza place next door was better than any pizza we’ve had in California (and some of the east coast). Would definitely come back. Easy access to road to Hana, airport, and wailea. Also easy access to the beach and its sea turtles!

Front Desk staff is absolutely wonderful, owner of Paia Inn seems sketchy. 2 bedroom suite and stayed 1-1/2 days. One queen bed had hole in duvet they covered with a throw blanket about the size of a baseball. That bedroom door hits the bed frame because room is small. Other bedroom is small as well. No place for suitcases in bedrooms had to use small living area.||||It was roughly $1800 for our stay.||||To get around the complex it’s a series of narrow walkways not very well lit. A lot of bulbs were missing from Christmas lights strung about.||||The gate in the beach area is supposed to be secure to keep the homeless off property. Not true beach access. Rocks behind back yard with a rope to climb up with. Not a place for kids, disabled or elderly.||||View was pretty from backyard. Definitely was not sold out by any means.||||Homeless sleep on the stoops in front of Inn on Main Street. Private security tries to get them to move on. But if shop owners don’t want security- police do nothing. There are only 3 parking spots at Inn. Other lot is about 3-4 doors down.||||It’s a funky beach town. There is excellent food in the area. Homeless drug addiction is present.||||I feel bad for the locals who work really hard.||||Also the onsite sushi bar mysteriously left during the week before we arrived. There was a strong fishy fish smell from the dumpster near our walkway. There are so many options on Maui. We would not stay there again.||||Not any of the things that were negative were the result of front desk. Rhea is wonderful and the other gal is super sweet.||||Accommodations at that price was waaaay overpriced.||||There

I recently booked a stay at Paia, lured in by the attractive photos of a charming boutique hotel experience. However, the reality fell short of expectations, especially considering the steep price of $600 per night, which also included a “resort fee” without any resort amenities. Upon arrival, it became clear that the room I was provided with bore little resemblance to the idyllic bungalow featured in all their promotional material. Instead, I found myself in a cramped space, with barely 2-3 feet of clearance around the bed, which felt suffocating rather than cozy. The room's location on a busy street compounded the issue, with traffic noises starting as early as 6 am, disrupting any chance of a peaceful sleep-in. Both the bar and restaurant were closed on Sunday and Monday, which significantly diminished the value of staying here, given the lack of dining options within the hotel. While the staff were very polite, it did little to alleviate the overall sense of disappointment. The disconnect between the advertised experience and the reality was stark. For the price paid, I expected a lot more in terms of room quality, peace, and available amenities. This hotel might suit those who plan their visits around when all facilities are open and can request a room away from the street, but for my part, I found it overpriced and underwhelming. I cannot recommend it based on my experience, and future guests should manage their expectations or seek accommodations elsewhere and be sure to get photos of the exact room you’ll be staying in…Mine was 103 and anything over $200 including taxes and fees for this room is outrageous for what you get- see photos.

Room was very nice and staff was friendly. Located conveniently toward the start of Road to Hana if this is something you plan to do I would stay here to get an early jump on the traffic. Paia has a very nice quiet downtown with shops and restaurants.
