It is a little confusing finding all of the trail heads at first. This place is absolutely wonderful to hike. I spent the day there exploring and will definitely be going back regularly. You can choose to stay on the maintained trails or go off in the pucker brush, if that is your thing. Nice quiet peaceful place.
There a great variety of beautiful trails and easy parking. The Hugo Peak Trail is fun and we'll marked. It's a little over 2 miles to the top. There is a 0.15 mi trail to an overlook which is well worth taking since the summit has 360 tree coverage.
The other really fun trail is the waterfall trails. You can drive up to the second parking spot.
For the best trail map Google Pack Forest and take the 2016 map.
Recently unfortunately somebody has decided to come up here and vandalize and try to steal things from our Forest campus. They took our workers electrician bag with all his necessary tools to fix things around our facility. They broke into a car that was parked near the pavilion. Now everybody that works here is on guard because we don’t trust anybody anymore. Unfortunately we have to wait in the woods for him to get them. And once we catch them he’s gonna regret it cause we’re not gonna be nice this time. We all work hard here and this person is interrupting our daily activities. This Forest is not a dirt bike track. Please don’t ride any motorcycles on our trails because whoever did vandalized a very important old growth forest that is being torn up by motorized bikes, seriously it’s probably the only untouched part of the state with trees over 1000 years old that have never been logged. But with careless people it will be lost without protecting it. Please have some sense and hike in only.
Beautiful hike to waterfalls!! Fairly easy trail, about 5 miles round trip. Be sure to bring a map as some of the trails aren't marked.
Love this place and these trails. Mount Rainier Institute housed our school for week here and it was incredible!
Fun place for a family hike. Easy hike until you begin the decent down to the falls then the ground becomes wet and slippery. And the climb back up is tricky. Overall an enjoyable hike with very little elevation, it's a walk in the park😉 with a great reward.
Loved this place. The hike is 5.5 mile long and leads to this beautiful waterfall. The trail is quite scenic. The last stretch to the waterfall was quite muddy and slippery, so please have good hiking shoes on.
We hiked 6.44 miles to see Little Mashel Falls. First 2 miles was on the road. But then uou get on a real path. The upper falls were pretty, the middle falls were great and you can go behind them, the lower falls were absolutely gorgeous.
Such a beautiful and well maintained park! We went here Halloween weekend and had almost the whole park to ourselves. Will definitely be coming back here again. Only thing I could say, the hosts should put a sign on the wood cage that tells guests to
It is beautiful! The sights themselves are amazing and even better with the animals! The tram is wonderful. You get to ride around and look at elk, moose, bison, and more! Then you get off the 5 you get to see the bear, wolves, cougar, bobcat, lynx,
Amazing host! Nan was extremely helpful in helping us settle in. His helpfulness was above and beyond. Super friendly host!
We enjoyed the campground, which was friendly during the day and quiet at night. There are some farm animals that are roam
Great park on alder lake. Free on weekdays and non holidays. Might be free on weekends. Supposedly a $10 fee but I didnât see any kiosk for payment. Good facilities, pretty large parking but it does get full. We got there before noon on a Monday a
