This is the best meal I had in Hawaii—poke included! The flavor is amazing and the food was served quickly. It tastes just as good as it looks—the rice is cooked to perfection and the flavor balance hits just the right spot. Super recommend!
One our favorites on Kona. Katsu is lightly fried and all. The flavors are delicious. Get some freshly shaved ice (only the weekends) for a refreshing dessert. Oh and the view while you eat is fantastic.
Awesome!! This is a food truck with a decent sized parking area and a few picnic tables under a shade. We actually got out and ate at one of the tables, but it looked like most people were taking it to go. There was a steady stream of patrons the entire time we were there. This was one of our favorite meals on the island. We got the pork katsu plate, which was amazing. But my favorite part was the dessert. We got shave ice and an ube taiyaki. LOVED the ube taiyaki. I have been telling everyone I know about it. It was SO SO SO tasty and made to order, so the filling was perfectly warm and smooth.
Jan 2024 update: came back again and wow so yummy! 😻😋 Matcha and mango shave ice + a couple taiyakis were the perfect snack. The anko taiyaki is 100% plant based as well! 2023: Went here with my family and all of the food was delicious, we can't wait to go back. A great Japanese food find on the Big Island! The staff in the food truck are so kind and friendly too. We got the vegan Japanese curry, katsu egg bowl, half chicken half pork fry bowl, tempura bowl, and a california roll...all of it was really, really good 😍🤩 I would 100% recommend the katsu egg bowl in particular, it had so much amazing sauce for the rice to pick up. Yum. The tempura bowl had a piece of fried shiso! I haven't been able to find shiso on the Big Island so it was really a treat. Really looking forward to coming back here on the weekend for the shave ice and taiyaki!! FYI this food truck is in the same lot as the Randy's huli huli chicken, just different days.
This place is simply amazing and had some of the most delicious Japanese food I’ve ever had outside of Japan. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The katsu pork with egg bowl was our favorite. The French fries were simply amazing and cooked to perfection. Everything we had was wonderful and we’ll be going back again this trip. I highly recommend.
Family-run, Japanese food truck with the fairest prices and most generous portions I’ve seen on Big Island. Their shave ice uses real ingredients, like matcha and mango. I’ve tried their fried chicken (karaage), chicken katsu, tempura (four shrimps and veggies), Japanese curry, California roll, ginger pork, musubi, katsu donburi, house made drinks, shave ice, and taiyakis (ube, chocolate, red bean, and custard). Everything on the menu is delicious and made with care - I keep going back :)
Authentic Japanese food cart. Chef is from Osaka I believe. Their karaage (Japanese style fried chicken) was SO flavorful. Totally crave worthy. I had it as part of a bento with pork katsu added. They also serve taiyaki (filled waffle-like dessert in the shape of a fish) and kakigori (Japanese style shaved ice). They operate out of an orange food cart that can be spotted from the main road (Mamalahoa Hwy) where Randy's hulihuli chicken usually is. O'z is open on the days Randy's is not. Nice shady outdoor seating area is available and parking usually is not a problem. I plan to return many times to try other dishes like katsu curry and gyudon.
We had the pork katsu curry rice, yakisoba and taiyakis (red bean and custard flavour). They serve really delicious comfort food and I'm definitely going back for more (especially the custard taiyaki)!

Updated: we went back again got a bunch of great pastries and also realized that out of all the coffee we tasted on the island, this was the best. It is mellow and fruity, no harsh bitter roast flavors . All the employees are super nice too. Just had
My Sister, Daughter and I have breakfast here all the time. We love the atmosphere and free Wifi. You order at the counter and the staff will bring it out to you. The prices are very reasonable. My daughter loves the Florian Egger sandwich and Mango
What a hidden gem. It is under new ownership and what a difference. Jenna the new owner is breath of fresh air. The screened in back patio is perfect for a relaxing evening.
