Oxford Furnace Lake - Featured Reviews (190)
A beautiful little lake in the sleepy town of Oxford. I grew up just down the street from this lake and have seen it come a very long way over the years. It is a safe environment with a lot to offer- everything from a sandy beach area with lifeguards for swimming, clean bathrooms with changing area, a snack bar with freshly cooked food and ice cream offerings, paddle board and kayak rentals that make it easy to just get right in the water, a butterfly garden, walking trails, soccer fields, boat launch with a floating dock next to it as well as a raised fishing dock. There are also many native plants growing around the lake including a plethora of common milkweed around the soccer fields. Plenty of parking and public BBQ grills are also available. Endless possibilities for family fun at the Oxford Furnace Lake with continuous improvements made yearly.
Nice lake but the parking lot was a little dirty. I feel like the wooden dock they had there could have been a little bigger, maybe put some benches on it. It has a small beach area that wasn't open when we went.. also has public bathrooms.
Large parking lots, easy launch. In Spring I was catching some nice bass and even a Musky, but it’s been slow the last few times here. Seems like it’s getting a lot of fishing pressure. Maybe the fish are getting smarter, being exposed to so many anglers. 😎
We love this little hidden treasure in our county. It's admission cost is very reasonably priced The beach is clean and the posted rules insure that it remains the family friendly place it is. We always go on weekdays, and it's not crowded, but I can't speak for weekends. The staff is courteous and friendly. The inflatables (additional cost) are a fun addition, and there are plenty of options for picnicking, including with grills.
Beautiful place to come to. Fishing, boating, hiking, cook outs, swimming when open or just to relax. Docking needs replacement for the HANDICAPPED people. Easier excess to fish beyond the weeds. I watched this reservoir being built back in the day. My Family and I have enjoyed it many times. I'm disabled now with no accessibility to fish in the real waters. I hope to fish here one day again.
LOUD music blasting and no help from the staff (which is all kids under 18 who couldn't care less) to have it turned down even the slightest. Don't come here looking for a relaxing time...or a clean time for that matter. Beach is gross and poorly maintained. The rentals are extremely overpriced. And the part of the beach that has water toys is continuously closed and dirty. So disappointing.
Beautiful lake to just sit and watch the ducks. But the trail in the woods was lack of maintenance. Maybe it’s more for people to come and play water.
Has been 20 years since our last visit. Still is a great lake and shaded area to cool off. Boat ramp and dock provide plenty of fishing boats to watch or to make use of.
