Bakhyt was such a treat! She was our server, who helped us navigate our way through the menu. Not being from the area, there were a lot of new things to try.
The omelette was five star. The texture of the egg was very airy. The cream sauce and fresh herbs put it over the top.
The fresh baked breads were a out of the park. No pun intended. Especially used with the French toast.
Everything was scratch made, and you can taste the difference.
The pancakes had a scratch made compote style berry jelly which was very inviting leaving me for more.
Local ingredients.
In all honestly, we were excited for the black burger… it was nothing to rave about and we didn’t finish it. The bread was not that good. Drinks were terrific and the dessert cookie was great too. Beautiful views and beautiful tables and set up.
The service was 5/5. Our server, Summer, was very kind and accommodating and patient with us. The cool/kitchen made several mistakes with our food, and Summer caught them before we did which was impressive. She addressed them as fast as possible. But the food itself was a 2/5 at best. I went here with my whole family and we were not impressed. Especially because my parents had gone before and enjoyed it. My dad had the fried chicken sandwich and he wasn’t able to eat more than half of it. It was over fried and very oily and disappointing. My mom had the gluten free pizza and it was burned on the edges, dry, and unimpressive. My brother had the eggs Benedict which he said were okay but the burger was very bad, he also didn’t finish half of it. The Caesar salad was overdressed and my steak was severely under-seasoned and absolutely not medium as I’d asked. The wings I had were okay. We likely will not be returning. Though, again, Summer was very hospitable and kind and we all liked her.
When we came in, the ladies at the front said there were no tables available, even though there were at least two empty tables that we saw. They said the wait time was one hour, so we reserved a table, and when we came in an hour later, those same tables were still available. At least we were able to get a table at all, but it didn’t feel like the wait was necessary. The dishes were slightly too salty and spicy. The waiter was very nice and attentive. Even though there are spices in excess, the dishes were very good, and we even finished the leftovers later on.
While the view from the restaurant is great, the food was just ok. We stayed at Black Rock Mountain Resort for our vacation and for our first night, we chose to dine at the hotel. Marina, the hostess was very sweet and after showing us to our seats, Edgar greeted us. After placing our drink orders, we started with the buffalo cauliflower that was extremely delicious. We placed our order for the hot pepperoni pizza, salmon, fried chicken and cheesy mashed potatoes. The kitchen was overwhelmed and behind on orders so
Edgar offered us a side of bread while we waited for our main courses. When we finally received our food, it was evident that the food had sat for a while as it was warm instead of being hot. The fried chicken was good, but the cheese for the mashed potatoes sat congealed in one area and was not consistent throughout. The dough for the pizza was not as crispy as we had hoped and the salmon was a bit too raw. I was only able to eat a small portion of it, but I did not complain. However, the manager noticed and removed it from our bill which was very thoughtful. While we never attempted dinner again, breakfast was very good. We tried the overlook breakfast, fried chicken and waffles, lemon French toast, buttermilk and chocolate chip hotcakes, avocado toast and strawberry beignets. It is really hard to mess up breakfast and I am glad they got it right.
Burrata appetizer was way too sweet for a starter. Pork chop was so tough I could barely cut it then chef sent waiter to ask if I wanted it more rare even though it was properly pink on inside already. No I want it tender enough to cut and chew -- you are the chef learn to cook what is on your menu! Pizza had a nice crust but overall was very bland. Salad was costco mix and croutons with decent dressing. Really wanted to like this place but ......
We had a business outing at this restaurant and wasn’t super impressed. Savannah was our waitress; super nice, asks engaging questions when greeted & wasn’t super busy. She was very much overwhelmed with a long day it sounded like with her tongue twisting - a much needed break was due for her. Maybe 6 tables within the restaurant with guests - and very disturbing & not good live music upstairs in the bar area. Food is very much over prices especially their steak. Very thin. Parking was not the greatest & valet was not available here.
I would recommend trying somewhere else before coming back here.
