They’re only open Friday and Saturday from 10-4. It’s a tiny little museum that perfectly displays the Orlando fire history. It’s also free and you can donate what you want.
Free entry, great people, and tons of history. They have 4 apparatus, a bunk room, and plenty of history. They have an optional donation box and tons of merchandise that is optional to buy. The only downside is that they're only open on Friday and Saturday (I don't believe they're open on Sundays) 10-4.
Came here on a Saturday morning. Online it said open only on Friday and Saturdays. 9:30 am. We waited from 9:30 to 11am and no one ever showed up to open this museum. I even called their number just to get a message saying they open at 9am. Doesn't make sense! My family and I were so disappointed. At least have someone put up a sign outside saying "not open today" so people don't waste their time waiting.
Wonderful, small, donation-based museum, that was a real firehouse but transported to a new location. The chrome and brass of old equipment is amazing. Also look at the communication systems: they have working fire-alarm telegraph systems hooked up and ready for demonstration. Staffed by former Orlando firefighters when I visited, eager to add personal context to all the items on display.
Great place and great staff! Staff volunteer to be there showing people the 100-yr history of Orlando fire station. You can ride on the cool trucks and take pictures. Loved the experience. I was told that the museum is owned by the city but the museum has no fund. I was told someone wants to purchase this place and turn it into a restaurant. If you are interested, please visit and show support. I really don’t want this wonderful place to become just another profitable restaurant. It is a great asset to the city of Orlando.
Was here April 16, 2022. This is a little gem. Cost $0 for enter. They only ask for donations. Talk to a volunteer firefighter and his son there. What good example he is setting. Museum itself is small. Have 2 floor. Have some retire fire trucks there. You can even seat in it. Personally. I really enjoy this place. See how and what they use to fight fire. Great for little ones.
I can't say enough good things about this museum. It's set up in an old firehouse and contains many incredible historic artifacts from Orlando Fire Department's history. The volunteers are retired Orlando firefighters and they spent a few hours showing us around and telling us about the various artifacts and historical figures from OFD. Great way to spend an afternoon.
We brought are 2 year old son to see firetruck and you were closed but on the website you are open 10-4 on Friday and Saturdays so I don't understand
