Clean beach, there are all amenities for recreation, large parking.
Orchard beach is especially nice after the crowds of the summer go home at the end of the beach season. That is when I enjoy going there. The promenade is being renovated right now but the new design in the photo by the construction site looks really good. I am sure this will improve the boardwalk area of the beach. It is scheduled for completion in the Spring of 2025.
Basically, this is the beach where everyone who grew up in the Bronx, would visit. Both summer & winter times. In the off season its the place to go to work-out/train. Once the Rocky movie came out, we would all jog/run the about 5 miles up the Bronx Park and into Pelham Pkwy, to the beach. Then up the entrance stairs playing the fight song & Eye of the Tiger. This began my career as an expert martial artist, aside from the Dojo on Gun Hill Rd . As far as the beach, goes In the summer time gets extremely crowded. Forget about driving here, traffic backed-up, almost to the bridge. And the water is never clear, basically hit & run as far as polluted water goes. However the backwoods, hidden behind Hunters Island is a paradise for the Bronx. And perfect place to go island hopping across the Sound. Wonderful beaches on the other islands, although forbidden/taboo.😎 Absolutely Like 👍👍👍👍👍 Deeply Magically Mysterious Nature 💜💙💜
A unique Beach for nyc in that it has forested areas and beach areas. You can use one of their grills and picnic tables and use the beach. No large waves as this is facing Long Island sound. Naturally on weekends it gets crowded and during the weekdays it is less crowded. Great playground with sprinklers , basketball and handball courts. Real Bronx feel !
A perfect week-end get away from hustle&bustle of NYC, easy accessible with metro 6 and a walk through the charming park. Worth to catch a breath!
My hometown "Riviera"! An easy bike ride to the beach where friends & neighbors swim, play & dance as the seasons change.
Fantastic beach for NYC summers. Much less crowded than the BK/QNS beaches on the day we went. Only downside - there was some of glass on the beach in multiple places, which made it a little scary to just run around.
I love our very own 4th of July celebration but I just can't wait til we can have it on the actual 4th. Please make this a reality. It's possible, we have to make it happen. Let's go BX!
