Definitely a must see! We were vacationing in Woodstock for the week and someone recommended that we stop by Opus 40. This is such a cool place and to think that one man built all of this out of rock over the course of his life is simply astonishing. Definitely do not miss visiting this place you will love it!!
Is this place great art? Heck I don't know but it is great fun! Didn't you have some small obsession but never acted it out for who knows how many reasons. Well this guy acted it out. Year after year he labor away digging stone cutting stone stacking stones and he made something great. Something amazing. Something worth seeing. Now pay a few bucks and be amazed at what a man can do...and maybe a little at least regret never following that obsession.
One of the most amazing art installations I have ever seen. But you don't just "see" Opus 40, you climb on it, you walk through it, you can even have a picnic lunch on it! An enormous artistic achievement that has stood the test of time, this place is a testament to the artist's vision and perseverance. In the shadow of a mountain, surrounded by nature, this work plays with light, and perspective, while exploring form and expression. Not to be missed or rushed, a visit here is truely worthwhile.
Nice place but average. If you have sufficient time when in the Hudson area you can visit but nothing great. But the fact is that it is quite cheap too by local standards just 11 dollars and even a small senior citizens discount. It definitely does not come in the must visit list.
A nice sculpture park. A bit smaller then I thought. $12 for adults to enter. They have concerts at night, check out the website for schedule. If you have small kids, you gotta hold them as running around the sculptures can be pretty dangerous
We've driven past the signs to Opus 40 for many years, always intending to visit the site of this architecturally artistic stone creation, and finally did so yesterday. We attended an event on the site called Euphonia that featured multiple brass bands, performances, incredible food and beverage stands, and access to both the Opus 40 structure and museum. The weather was very cooperative, with just the right mix of sunshine, passing clouds, and wonderful Catskill mountain breezes. The music was fun and upbeat, as was the crowd in attendance that ranged from toddlers to senior citizens, all there just to enjoy some great music amidst abounding scenic splendor. The Opus 40 stone sculpture is massive and truly serves as a testament to the vision and perseverance of the artist who created it over the span of almost 40 years of his life. It is truly worth a visit, especially during an event such as this.
Gave me quarry envy. Short walk from parking to an impressive amount of work. Fun to explore.
What an Amazing place I’ve lived here for over 7 years and just came to Opus 40 It’s a pleasant afternoon and it’s incredible that this man did everything alone A definite much see So go and enjoy Be well Diane
What a lovely hike. The waterfalls are huge and beautiful, especially after some rain. Lots of dogs taking the hike. Our dog loved it too. Beautiful falls to explore from all sides. Peaceful and fun, all the same. Not too challenging, except for clim
Beautiful riverside trail that circles back around on a high ground trail through the woods. Additional trail that takes you past more water, and around the ruins of the ice house. In total, roughly two miles start to finish.
This was a great quick hike/walk for my family and I. Parking was simple and itâs a flat 5-10 minute walk on a well maintained trail. Very fun to do with the kids and very accessible. Though there isnât much to do aside from take in the views onc
This is one of my favorite places especially in the summer time. It has a great outdoor area to hang out play some games enjoy some drinks. The food is always good. The bar tenders are always on point they are nice efficient and over all just wonderf
I did the blue trail starting at shady lane. It was a beautiful and and easy hike compared to most catskill hikes. Kids would enjoy but it's a bit far. Probably 2 miles give or take .5
I mean, there are no words. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the food is AMAZING and everything is locally grown. We went on our way to Cooperstown and stopped on our way back 2 days later. You will not regret it!!!
A local friend suggested Buns for lunch and I was not disappointed! The place has a nice modern ambience. we got to take out and I often forget to take pictures of the actual food but my lamb burger was delicious, I would definitely go back for that.
AutoCamp was perfect for our much needed getaway from our busy lives. The airstreams were clean, cozy and had all the necessities. We brought extra cooking tools but overall, they had the necessities. The staff at Catskills was also amazing! Everyone
Rock Da Casbah is the best restaurant in Saugerties. If you like good food and you like a good vibe to a place it is the best place in town. Burgers were cooked to perfection without too much wait, fries perfect, and the family loved the food. Servic
