A great stop on our yearly motorcycle "Cemetery Ride". We park by the school house and walk around. Well preserved and presented little ghost town!
This is a cute little place that I never knew existed. A handful of us rode motorcycles there a couple of weeks ago. Most of the locals that we encountered were nice and welcoming. However, there were a couple that were less than thrilled with our presence.
Really cool collection of historic buildings. Most have been moved (were not originally located here) and many are restored rather than original, but still very interesting to see the history of this mining town. All the buildings are within easy walking distance. You can find a place to park along the street or up the side road a bit and then walk around. Look for signs tho because parking is not allowed everywhere.
Really fun area to explore. Lots of historical buildings and very uncrowded. Not much in the way of food, so bring your own. There are several old mines in the area. Seems like a good place to bring an ATV too.
I have to say, I am really surprised how much I enjoyed going to Ophir. So much to see as far as old mining stuff. Love some of the rock faces. Haven't had a chance to yet but I hear it's a great place to hike.
Lots of no trespassing signs so please be respectful of this cute little town. I loved it so much and the people are definitely friendly. Coming back for the one hike that is out here
Adorable in capturing the past. Mining history is awesome as well as what makes this town wholesome
This fun little historic district is such a gem! They are open May through October on Saturdays. I just wandered around the little town within a town. The history and the town support to create this tribute to Ophir's past is incredible. There were clear interpretive signs and delightful period decorations. It did creap my kids out and it takes a while to get there. But I loved it!
