Olive Branch Cafe - Restaurant in Jacksonville - 1850-1830, IL-267, USA

I found this place after a bad experience at Kim's Place (see other review)... They sat me quickly and immediately took my order. Food was decent and waitress was nice. Much nicer and cleaner inside than Kim's... Was looking for breakfast all day and this fit the bill. Would definitely visit again if I was in Jacksonville!

As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by a friendly hostess, who happened to be the owner. We were promptly seated at a booth and given some breakfast menus. It definitely hasn't lost it's charm from previous owners, in fact some items were added. After we ordered, the food arrived somewhat promptly, but didn't seem as tasty as expected. The coffee seemed like it was simply poured from a big-ole pot that hasn't been cleaned out in a while, possibly just using unfiltered tap water. The corned beef seemed seared over a scorching hot pan, same with hash browns. As a matter of fact, both didn't seem quite fully cooked. We didn't have much time that morning, so I just went for the eggs, which were delicious by the way. It's really hard to mess up scrambled eggs. Anyway, once we were done, the total was given and we were able to get on our marry way. If you're in the area and there is absolutely no othere alternatives, then do give them a chance, as they do have some really good deals/options on the menu, but don't expect a fine dining experience.

Staff wonderful, clean, upholstery clean and without tears , food was very good, coffee kept coming! Was a little concerned when we first pulled up—— but none once we entered. Constant stream of local customers!!!!! 😃

Great friendly staff.Classic Mid-West breakfast good eats, although our hashbrown's were a bit under cooked. The only huge negative comment and why the rating dropped is; An old and run down building is fine but the floors, walls, and bathrooms need a complete hazmat steam cleaning! Sticky, foot prints, finger prints, and dirty floors everywhere. How do we know if the kitchen is clean and the food is safe? Presentation of your buissnes is everything!

The portion sizes and the omelettes were pretty good. The hash browns came burned and dry though. I mean, how do you mess up hash browns...

This is my second time here. I had a great salad. Great service.

We have visited this place multiple times, and we still haven't had a bad experience. Whether you want breakfast food, pasta, or burgers this place has it. Its affordable, quick, and delicious!!
