I’ve lived in Portland for 25 years and have tried hundreds of food carts all over town and this is hands down the best food cart I have had. What makes a great food carts? Two things; the first is of course great food, which this cart time and time again comes through with. The authenticity of their food can’t be found at any other Indian cart/restaurant. The naan is exceptional, I’ve never had anything like it. The second part to a great food cart is the people. Simple and Areyka (apologies if I spelled that wrong) are truly the kindest and most genuine people I have ever met. I have been coming here for 6-7 years now and they always greet you and treat you like their favorite customer no matter what. My go to menu item here is the chicken wrap (masala curry type of dish wrapped in naan like a burrito) which I can’t resist getting all the time. I have had the chicken biryani which is excellent, but also the chicken or veggie lunch special, which is an amazing lunch deal that comes with Naan and changes daily. If you are in town for a visit or if you live here, do yourself a favor and come to Old Taste of India to meet Simple and Areyka and try their amazing food!! I promise you won’t regret it, you will just regret not knowing about this gem of a food cart earlier

Favorite place for Indian food & the best lamb in town, period. Love the wraps & samosas with extra mint chutney. Always a good time chatting with them too!

They have a great lunch special - but I’m a big fan of their mutter paneer, my favorite takeout!

Recently, I was in Portland and found myself staying at a hotel not far from Old Taste of India. I have not had Indian food for some time and decided to give them a try. I ordered the Lamb Korma and the regular Naan. I was truly blown away. The Korma was some of the best that I have ever had and the naan was fresh and clearly made in a traditional manner. The only complaint that I had is there was too much food for me to eat in one sitting and I didn't have a good means to take it home the next day! I will return the next time I am back in the area!

Ordered chicken biryani, was served a giant pile of rice with a few tiny pieces of chicken. For the price, it was a bad deal and I wouldn’t return to this place.

The lady doesn't know how to talk to her customers. I called and asked how much is the lamb biriyani. And she said 200$. Then she asked how spicy I said 8. She told me I dont want a lamb biriyani then. If I wanted to joke around I'd just go to a comedy show. Not a indian restaurant. Disgusted.
