Old Mill Resort at Gruene - Resort hotel in New Braunfels - 1554 Gruene Rd, USA

I recently hosted a celebration of life at the event venue, and I could not have been more satisfied. The location itself is beautiful, and the building is well equipped to host a large event. Ownership/management changed hands shortly before the event, so I was a little stressed about that, but I met with the new management and they provided exactly what I was looking for. Many of our guests also commented about how pretty the venue is. Very happy with how it turned out.

This is a great location if you intend on visiting Gruene Historic District and/or hopping in and floating the Guadalupe River. The rooms are large so plenty of space to spread out. The kitchen is minimally supplied so if you plan on doing much cooking, might bring some things. Really quiet and peaceful.

My college sorority sisters recently held our annual girls trip at the Old Mill Resort in Gurene, Texas. We had a fabulous time and experience. From the moment I contacted the resort for information last October, Beverly, who manages the resort, was helpful, insightful, professional, and accommodating. She worked with me on every aspect of our stay. The poverty is well maintained, and the condominiums are spacious, clean and stocked with all necessities. It was the perfect place to hold our trip in the middle of Gruene. If you are looking for a great place to host your friends, a multiple family vacation, a family reunion, or a weekend gateway, I highly recommend that you take a look at this extraordinary property!

UPDATE The property has new ownership and I can no longer say that it is ideal for large group events like ours. The property is still nice and the location of course has not changed, so if you find their prices acceptable, I trust you'll enjoy your stay. Unfortunately, there have been two important changes with the new ownership: 1) Significant Price Increases The all-in cost of our annual 3-day weekend room rental went up 57%. This is due to three factors: the base rates being increased, a new $25 service charge just to make a booking, and a new additional cleaning fee ($116 for the 2-bedroom, $150 for the 3-bedroom). The base rates for our weekend (Labor Day weekend) went up 36%. We were suggested to consider them for non-holiday weekends when rates were lower, but those base rates are still 25% higher than the previous rates, and that's before accounting for the new service and cleaning fees. 2) Lost benefits of centralized ownership/management Having central ownership and management was helpful for making a reservation block and coordinating the booking of our large event. Reservation blocks are no longer possible because condos are now individually owned. Rooms must be rented individually through the online booking portal, so if we want a group event we must coordinate so that everyone books at the same time. There's no grace window in the cancellation fee - it's just a $50 non-refundable fee (as long as you cancel more than 14 days in advance). While it's too soon to know for this property, we have had poor experiences with other local properties where condos are individually owned. Different family members would have widely inconsistent experiences between the quality of different units. With the previous central ownership, we were confident that all rooms would be equally maintained and well-equipped. ==================== Original Review: Our experience with Old Mill Resort was nothing short of exceptional from top to bottom. We hold an annual family reunion and after more than 40 years of gathering in the New Braunfels/Gruene area, we have found a place that checks all the boxes and we are excited to have a new home base for hopefully years to come. Jennifer and Denise were an absolute pleasure to work with and helped make the planning and booking experience as simple as possible. With over 80 family members attending, that was very much appreciated! The property itself is beautiful, and the location is fantastic. We walked to the Guadalupe River to float, and downtown Gruene is only half a mile away. For many of us, the real stars of the show were the rooms. This wasn't a speed job to crank out as many units with economy furnishings as possible with the intent of herding as many guests through as quickly as possible. It's immediately clear that the design was deliberate and great care was taken in every aspect. The construction, in general, is high-quality and you see it in all in the details - from nice counters to extra-wide heavy wood doors, to high-quality furniture and appliances. The units are extremely spacious, which is important for us since we often end up with 25-30 people grouped at any given time. Outdoor spaces made it easy to congregate even more people than that outside. Our expectations were blown away, and we look forward to our next visit to Old Mill Resort!

We stayed at old mill for 9 nights. We absolutely loved it! The rooms were spacious and clean, the location in Gruene was so close to everything. Bev, at the front desk kept our supplies stocked, she was so helpful. The pool is nice and spacious. The only thing i would change is that there aren’t grills close to the condo we stayed in-that didn’t keep us from reviewing it w 5 stars. We would definitely go back and would love to stay there during the season when it’s busier, though we loved the quiet of the grounds being there in off season. It was still warm enough for the pool & floating the comal river in September. The price was reasonable for the accommodations we got, we were happy with the service we received as well from the staff. We stayed there with our 2 kids and a nanny. The kids were able to take their bikes and ride around with plenty of space in the parking lot. I can’t wait to go back and looking forward to staying there again, sooner rather than later. Would recommend Old Mill a Resort to anyone.

By far the best place to stay!! They even have dishes and a washer and dryer inside. I can't express enough how comfortable and great our weekend was. There was a day we relaxed at the room and just cooked outside and went to the pool. I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars. We will definitely be back!

The condo was beautiful and clean. The management was a different issue. We received an email the day of the event and it was the most "unfriendly" email I have ever received. Very terse. The first two sentences: No smoking or you will be fined. No pets or you will be fined. My recommendation would be to start off with a "Welcome"
