Oishi Sushi Restaurant & Bar - Japanese restaurant in Shawnee - 12220 Shawnee Mission Pkwy, USA

Visited Oishi Sushi and was promptly seated, a promising start. Their sushi selection is a delightful nod to the classics: the shrimp tempura was crispy, the sweet potato roll a comforting bite, while the tuna avocado melded creamy and fresh. The Oishi and LA rolls showcased their unique culinary flair. But the hibachi steak entree? A star in its own right, perfectly seared and flavorful. Our waitress, Rayna, was exceptional in her service. A must-visit for sushi enthusiasts and hibachi lovers alike.

We tried this place since we live nearby. For the price, the food was pleasantly good. We ordered two sushi combos and kani salad. I would say the kani salad and maki rolls needed a touch more seasoning but overall the value makes up for it.

Sushi is great everytime & great price too! I typically don't like eating at restaurant due to cleanliness, lack of service or loud atmosphere - but I will eat in at Oishi! It's great. Plenty of seating. Good lightning, low noise level. Highly recommend.

Came in at 8:30 and it was slow, so I was a bit hesitant. I am so glad I stayed and chose to eat here. The experience was very nice. Great atmosphere and sushi was great! The decor was fun and they had amazing service, very attentive. An overall satisfying experience! Will definitely be coming back! Recommend Sushi for Two! Yummy

As a whole, the sushi and sashimi is good. However, there were negative things that made this experience a 4/5 rather than a 5/5. For example, the vegetable and shrimp tempura was dry. The spicy salmon roll also tasted a bit off, like the fish was not fresh. The bento box was okay and exactly what you expected. While the miso soup and hot sour soup were not half bad. Lastly, the waitress treated my group very well.

Oishi is without a doubt the best sushi restaurant in the KC Metro area. I go here regularly with my partner, I take anyone who likes sushi here. Sometimes when I feel like being alone, I come here by myself to relax, drink some warm sake, and watch sports at the bar.  In this way, it's a great place for any situation. The quality of the sushi here is high, but the prices are not as high as you would expect. Very middle of the road, if not a little on the expensive side, but it's really good overall. If you were to go to a sushi place in the plaza, you're easily paying 3 times as much for a product that is half the quality. If you live in the city, make the trip out to the suburbs. This will be the best strip mall sushi experience of your life. I'm a big fan of sashimi and sushi, but their rolls are good too. If you're taking a date here, I recommend the Sushi and Sashimi for Two. You get a bit of everything (soup, salad, sushi, sashimi, 2 rolls) for like $70. It's a steal. Thanks to the staff at Oishi! You help make Shawnee a great place to live!

I finally have my KC Sushi location! Great service and fresh sushi/sashimi. Reasonable prices for what you get. (Larger portions with plenty of protein) I’m fairly certain I messed up my order (forgot to ask for a substitution) and my server, Gina, took care of it without a hesitation. I’ll have to get a pic next time.

We had tiger roll, sweet potato tempura, and forgot other roll name. So good!!! Service was excellent and friendly. Clean and quiet atmosphere.
