Ohio House Motel - Motel in Chicago - 600 N La Salle Dr, USA

This motel is a good value for the proximity to downtown area. Highlights were definitely the parking, which is all ground level and just off Ohio, the complimentary breakfast at the adjacent Cafe which beats a continental spread any day, as well as the excellent staff, who were attentive and friendly. The retro look of the front office may have you thinking you'll get a dingy room from a bygone era, but they are actually reasonably updated. Cleanliness was what you would expect. My bed was on the firmer side, which is more a matter of personal preference, and there was a nice assortment of pillows. The walk to Michigan Avenue is about 5 to 10 minutes. Plenty of access to restaurants, Target is next door, and grocery are walking distance. Less desirable is the road noise especially in my corner bank of rooms, some noise from the alleyway as well. You also share a landing with a pod of rooms, so late night guests are easy to hear coming and going. Sound machine or earplugs recommended. Also, the climate control is central and controlled by the front office, so you need to call if it is too hot or cold. This was not an issue for me as she turned it down right away (was blazing on my arrival), but I could see it being an problem if you end up next to guests who have a different temperature preference. You can open the window wide and they are barred for protection, but that lets in more noise. TVs, averall amenities are serviceable, and in line with the overall price. Shower water was hot, but older fixtures etc. Overall, the pros outweigh the compromises, and it is a good budget option if you need to stay in the area. Would stay again.

Excellent value for the price that included parking on the premises in downtown Chicago for our one night stay without an extra charge. Room was updated and clean and roomy enough for 2 people. It had a desk, chair, microwave and mini fridge. Staff was friendly and helpful. Location was great and convenient. We stayed mid-week so the street noise was not bad at all but I do recommend wearing earplugs. I would definitely stay here again.

Price is very reasonable and the location is great! I felt safe and the neighborhood is nice. A couple blocks to Malnati's, Al's and Target if you want food or necessities. The outside was decorated for Halloween, which was fun. We were asked if we wanted a first or second floor, we chose the first. We did hear the people above us the first night, but it was quiet after that. The street noise might be a bit loud if you aren't used to it, but ok if you sleep heavy, I wore ear plugs. The room was clean, beds comfy, lots of pillows, and had a safe, frig, microwave, and coffee maker. Depending on the deal you book, you can get a free breakfast across the street. You just ask for a coupon and then go over there. They offer several basic American hot and cold options which were all good. The parking is free, which is one of the main reasons I chose to stay here. You can come and go as you please without shelling out more money. Most hotels have expensive daily parking fees. Our car was fine, as they close the side gate at night.

This motel is a hidden gem. The rooms are modern and quiet, and the Magnificent Mile is literally only a brisk five-minute walk away. The area is flush with shops, restaurants and museums too numerous to list here. There is no need to pay more for basic, clean, and safe accommodation. Staff is very personable and professional. Schneider Deli is on the premises - what's not to love? I had a short yet very enjoyable stay.

We were in town for riot fest in Douglas Park and this was a great location for us. The room was very clean, bathroom was spotless. Everything we needed while we were at the hotel was well within walking distance. Cleaning service was great, it was so nice to come back to a clean, made bed every night after being out in the festival. Service at the desk was wonderful every time, Paulina was a stand out for sure. Very happy with our stay. 😊 Only thing I’d say that could be negative is the parking situation but with the location there’s not much to be done about it. Chicago is very tight.

My partner and I stayed at Ohio House for a little Chicago getaway and loved every minute of it. Our room was so cozy and comfy. We originally booked two nights, but we were having such a good time that we extended our stay AND got a late checkout. The location is within walking distance to so much, and has easy access to public transit options as well. I communicated with Edgar a handful of times over email and he was lovely. We will be back for sure! I’m so glad we found this gem - worth every penny :)

Needed reasonably priced room in walking distance to UK consulate. Overnight stay by four early October. Parked 20' from room in enclosed lot! Super clean room. Modest size but functional. 10 minutes walk to consulate and other Michigan Ave locations. Friendly and accommodating staff! Free breakfast IF you book directly. Choice of half dozen options at pizzeria across street. Sausage/eggs/hash browns, pancakes& sausage, or diet fare. Central location felt safe and very convenient. Would certainly book again.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights while we toured the city. Free parking is a huge plus not offered by many places. Spaces were a little tight but fine for our minivan. Clean nice room, great location for walking or catching the trains. Very friendly, helpful staff. And lovely free breakfast. We will stay here next time we visit!
