Loved my stay at the Ocean Cliff Hotel. Right from arrival, the entire staff was exceptional. The room had beautiful views and was very comfortable. Housekeeping was so accommodating. Sitting out on the Adirondack chairs watching the sunset was, absolutely, stunning. Thanks, so much, for a memorable stay. We will, definitely, be returning.

Our family has been loyal guests at Ocean Cliff 1 and 2 for a decade now. However, we regret to note a consistent decline in the quality of our stays each year. While we understand that occasional issues can arise, our recent visit was particularly disappointing.||Upon arrival, we arrived an hour early and requested access to the pool area, which was granted but without a key for re-entry, leaving us stranded. The hot tub was out of order throughout our stay, with stagnant water seeping into the pool. In our room, the refrigerator leaked continuously, culminating in brown water on the floor by mid-week. Furthermore, both hairdryers provided were non-functional, despite multiple requests for replacements. Maintenance attempted to address these issues but could only resolve one of the wall units. Eventually, we were provided with handheld dryers.||The ice machine was also broken, and we were informed it would remain so for several weeks, causing significant inconvenience. Additionally, the shower door in the downstairs bathroom leaked due to improper installation, and the room had an unpleasant odor that worsened over time. Although prompt cleaning was arranged upon our complaint, the underlying issue persisted.||In a neighboring unit occupied by family, we encountered a dirty microwave with a keypad covered in grime, a comforter stained with what appeared to be fresh blood, and an infestation of bugs. Moreover, the iron provided did not work.||While the staff was courteous and eager to assist, the lack of availability and proactive communication from management, particularly over weekends, was disappointing. When we finally spoke with the General Manager, her response lacked empathy and offered little resolution to our concerns.||Given the premium charged during peak summer season, we believe these issues are unacceptable. We should have been informed prior to check-in about the hot tub and ice machine concerns and offered suitable alternatives or compensation. Cleanliness and basic amenities should not have been compromised.||While we appreciate the efforts of the staff, the recurring nature of these issues, as echoed by other guests, indicates systemic shortcomings that need addressing.

Such a perfect Newport wedding venue. Easily one of the best reception spaces with the panoramic view through the ballroom videos. The ceremony space overlooking the water is just perfect and when the hydrangeas are in bloom it’s just too perfect. I love photographing weddings here! - Michael Silvano Photography

Our first visit to the OceanCliff Hotel was for a recent family wedding. On a nice summer day, the wedding venue is lovely; you can see why a bride would choose it. ||We won't be going back anytime soon. The staff was good to above average. The facility? Let's just say a kindly "below average," on its it's best day. With a careful eye, you can discern the deferred maintenance. We were in Room 33. As veterans of the property know, third-floor rooms are essentially in the attic. Oh, and there is no elevator. Given the roof lines, we constantly needed to monitor ourselves, so we didn't crack a head on the angle of the ceiling. The rooms really are akin to old-time servants' quarters -- nothing spacious here. The room fit a queen bed == barely. And the pillows were like sleeping with your head on a cinder block. Our room didn't have a mirror and the available electric outlets mostly were in the closet. The closet had no light but did have those fabulous hangers where the hook is attached to the rod so you can't steal the hangers. All this for a mind-numbingly high room charge.||And the bathroom for each third-floor room is down the hall or around the corner. You read that right -- you need to LEAVE THE ROOM to visit the bathroom -- and don't forget your key for the locked bathroom door! And those bathrooms? The plumbing was a late addition -- the water lines run under the bathroom floor, which was raised about 6 inches. The stall shower was about 24 inches by 24 inches. I banged my elbows multiple times on the stall walls -- and I've seen nicer stall showers at Home Depot. When you sit on the toilet, you need to watch your elbows, lest you bang the walls. One more thing: there is NO VENTILATION in the bathrooms. Simply lovely. . . ||A few other interesting points. We found the hotel wi-fi to be really spotty (at its best) to virtually nonexistent at its worst. Trying to arrange an Uber became an Olympic event. There is a free "continental breakfast" for guests of the hotel. Why did I use quotation marks? We've had better continental breakfasts at Hampton Inns. The coffee was weak; "breakfast" was stale pastries, white flour mini-bagels, miniature yogurt cartons, kids' boxed cereals and hardboiled eggs. All with plastic utensils and paper cocktail napkins. The hotel simply shouldn't have made the effort.||With all that, we were hopeful the wedding would be fabulous. And it mostly was -- due to the bride's very efficient wedding planner (not from the hotel) and a great bank (also not from the hotel). The wedding dinner? I asked one of our tablemates about her steak entre and she responded, ". . .cardboard; it tastes like cardboard."||The location is wonderful, and the grounds are lovely. We just didn't think the trade-off was anywhere worth it.

We have just attended the wedding of some very close family of ours and had a wonderful experience with the Ocean Cliff Hotel. From the moment we arrived as members of the wedding party we were made to feel as family, from the warm and receptive Front Desk Managers that greeted the family (and fixed any problems that popped up!) like Susan and Heidi to the wildly talented and responsive servers like John (who never failed to greet a guest or open the doors to welcome them!) Reidyn, Oswaldo, and Zander that jumped on every request or difficulty that came their way. ||Karl and Dan were our bartenders for the evening and there was not a drink mentioned that they could not create. They were exceptionally personable and made everyone feel like they were finally coming home after a long spell away. ||Taylor and Briana assisted with planning and had a solution or fix for every last minute change or addition that came by. ||Michael was our Night Auditor who quickly became our late-night guardian angel by providing and assisting our messy but well intentioned group with anything we needed. He was a fabulously knowledgeable individual that we were thrilled to have spent the late nights with. ||This beautiful facility and their unerring staff have made every single guest feel like they belong at every turn. My wife and I were truly blessed to spend a weekend here among so many people that made us feel so special and cared for during our short stay. I cannot recommend this location enough for weddings, celebrations or other events moving forward. We thoroughly look forward to our next return to the Ocean Cliff Hotel and it is solely thanks to the exceptional and selfless staff on hand to make every moment memorable!

Impressive from the moment you arrive. We were invited to a wedding taking place at the hotel so we decided to book a room right there. So glad we did. What a fantastic place. Simply gorgeous.

We attended a wedding at Ocean Cliff Hotel and it was excellent! The grounds are beautiful with an ocean view. Staff are wonderful and our meal was delicious. An unexpected treat was the sunset over the ocean. Highly recommended!

Through Expedia I had recently booked a room that could accommodate 2 adults in one queen size bed for 2 nights starting the Sunday after 4th of July. The hotel itself has historical charm, the grounds are kept clean, and views of the are spectacular, however the amenities and service could be improved. When we were trying to find our room, the faded numbers made it somewhat difficult to find, so making the room numbers more eligible would make it easier for guests to find their rooms. In the room itself, we had a comfortable queen size bed however our room was rather small without a desk, and there was not a whole lot of room to move around in. In addition, the room had a cable-only TV (not a smart TV) where the cable service was in and out at night and there were only outlets on the left side of the bed and not the right side. Additionally, the temperature of the room itself was rather hot as the entire hotel is controlled by one central air unit where you have to call the front desk to change the temperature in the room and even then it took several calls to get the temperature changed. It would be nice to be able to control the temperature of your own room and stay comfortable without having to call the front desk. The bathroom was clean, however the fixtures are a bit dated. We were also told that there would be complementary breakfast from 8-9:30 AM, however it was only a continental breakfast that consisted of a spread of bagels, pastries, fruit, yogurt that was slightly warm, and hard boiled eggs that were not peeled. It would have been nice to have more substantial breakfast options including eggs, bacon, sausages, English muffins, even we could only order it a-la-carte. It is also worth noting that the OceanCliff hotel does not have an elevator and is approximately a 15-20 min drive from downtown. Overall good location and groundskeeping, however the amenities and service can be improved upon for a better guest experience for $400/night.
