Ocean View Inn - Motel in Westerly - 140 Atlantic Ave, USA

If I could give a negative number, I would! STAY FAR AWAY from this place and its sister property - Ocean View Motel which is right across the street.||Started with booking a last minute girls weekend - receptionist stated that they had a "family room" with (2) separate beds. I had the room pulled up on Expedia to make sure the rates they were giving us were correct. I was quoted $270 per night plus tax which total approx $610. I asked for an emailed receipt which showed $632. I called back to question it ... I know it's only $20 but that is just shady! Same receptionist said she made a mistake on the rates and the higher price was correct. I pointed out that I was on Expedia and the rates tied with what I was quoted. She said she would honor the lower rate even though "I was wrong" ... great customer service!||After driving 1 1/2 hrs on Friday, we arrived at check in ... same receptionist I spoke with was at the desk. She took my credit card, charged the room and then told me "I have great news - you're being upgraded to our bungalow" ... come to find out it only had a king size bed which was unacceptable since we needed (2) separate beds. Receptionist explained that they overbooked and this was all they had. I asked for the manager and after a few, a very rude gentleman showed up and basically said it was what it was ... we could have the king bed room or get our money back. So here we are with nowhere to stay .. no "I'm sorry" .. no "we can offer you a credit for the confusion" ... just an overall "Don't Give A S*it" attitude. ||I explained about the price switch which he denied ... I explained we booked the night before so how could they no longer have the room ... I explained that a king size bed was unaccepable when we booked (2) beds ... again he had very little care or concern for the situation (Footnote - pretty sure he was the owner even though he denied it when we asked to talk with the owner .. .another footnote - they spoke another language to each other so we wouldn't know what they were saying back and forth during all this!!) We took the credit and left quickly.||We ended up finding a great room next door at Misquamicut Beach Resort ... STAY THERE!!! Friendly people and clean rooms||I am so blown away that in this economy, when money is tight, and a run down crap motel charges $300/night, and someone actually tries to stay there, they try to scam you. Completely unacceptable ... STAY FAR AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE AND THEIR RUN DOWN MOTEL!!!

Saw a sign labeled “beach parking” infront of the parking lot. Pulled in to park so we could get ice cream next door at the end of our beach day. Parking lot was almost completely empty. An Old man presumably the Owner/front desk worker came outside and started yelling at us for parking there. We explained we were just getting ice cream and would be back in 5 minutes. He said and I quote “if I rent out that room I’m going to have a hard time explaining to them why they don’t have a parking spot” we just laughed and went down the street to a different ice cream shop. My point is, for a hospitality business their customer service is very much lacking. Had he kindly asked us to move to a different spot in the lot we wouldn’t have minded but he came out aggressive. Still don’t understand why there was a beach parking sign there if they don’t even let you park for ice cream. I wouldn’t stay there if it was free because of this interaction. The Place looked very poorly maintained as well. Video proof of vacancy and beach parking sign attached.

I was a little worried when the room was so much cheaper than other hotels in the area but we were pleasantly surprised. The room was not fancy in any way but it was clean and less than a 2 minutes walk to their private beach. The new management is really helping bring this place up a level. ||||You have to check in across the street front the inn at the Sandcastle Beachfront Inn and the staff and security is the same for both locations.||||It was great for my family and we look forward to going again soon

Ocean View Motel has a perfect location, prices are really good (the best in the area) very close to the beach. And good acces to tourisim around, going to deep see fishing, Carrousell, Wach Hill, next to the Maria's Restaurant is a plus!!||Service was excellent they change sheets and towels and clean the room everyday. They provide to the room any of my request as an extra pans, toaster, towels, pillows etc with no extra charge. My family stay every summer since year 2000. My Grown up children have a beautiful memories.||Perfect for a family!!! My parents also love it. My children and I recomend Ocean Vew Motel

I've been staying at this hotel just about every year since for the last 10 yrs & have never been dissatisfied. The price is prime for the location & is always clean . It's definitely not the Ritz, so if looking for more pristine conditions I reccomend Pleasant View Motel but after all I'm only there to sleep & shower . The owner is very polite & discrete. Updates to the furnishings wouldn't be a bad idea. But overall this place fits a humble person looking for a reasonable. See you summer of 2015 Nick ! ||

It’s extremely hard to find a hotel/motel for a little over a $100 a night on a weekend at the end of July that’s right next to the beach! With that said, I know why it’s so cheap! I’m not a snob, but this place is VERY run down. The bathroom was creepy, with small sink and small fiberglass shower. No shampoo and just a small bar of soap. Surprisingly, there was a hairdryer, it made the bathroom light flicker when you used it though! |My friend and I stayed in room 1, it smelled very badly of mold/mildew. Location is great however, being right across the street from the beach. Nick the owner is a nice enough guy, just think he’s done with the place and ready to move on (it is for sale after all)

My family came back from a nice dinner and walked on the beach. Went to wash off our feet using the their faculties and a staff member came up to us and asked “excuse me are you staying here or taking advantage of other people’s property” in which I responded we are staying here. Room 3. And he rudely walked away. Wished we stayed at a different hotel or motel. So incredibly rude. We wash off our feet to keep your rooms cleaner and that’s how you treat us............

Ocean View Motel is the BEST! It is just across the street from the Ocean and very easy to get to. The prices are good and they even sell Ice Cream for the kids. I have been going there for 25 years and I wouldn't go any place else. This is a home away from home. And the owner is a great guy!!!! Louise
