Ocean View Inn - Motel in Norfolk - 1020 E Ocean View Ave, USA

I rate this hotel is NEGATIVE for the reasons below. I do not recommend this hotel at all. First, this hotel is dirty. I entered the room with the smell of cigarettes. I requested another room without the smell, and the owner refused it. Moreover, the hotel's service is WORST. Basic amenities like shampoo and conditioner were not provided. When I asked for these at the front desk, I received the response, 'WE DON'T HAVE IT.' This caused inconvenience and showed a need for more understanding from the staff, as they suggested using bar soap to watch my hair. I WILL NEVER COME BACK TO THIS HOTEL AND FOR ALL THE PEOPLE OUT THERE. YOU MIGHT HAVE TO THINK TWICE BEFORE YOU BOOK THIS HOTEL.

Not the fanciest hotel, but met our needs. Actually looked better in person than it did in pictures which surprised me lol. Nice location on the beach. We could see the ocean from our room. The staff were super friendly. The owners stopped by our room after we checked in and brought extra toiletries and towels for our stay and welcomed us. That was so sweet and surprising. I am definitely returning. Thank you, Ocean view Hotel!

Our recent stay here was a bit of a mixed bag. On the bright side, the ocean views from the corridor were fantastic, and the beach was right there, which was awesome. Plus, the price was right on the money. However, the rooms were a bit hit or miss. The one on the first floor seemed a bit dated, while the second-floor room felt fresher. It had better lighting and a cleaner bathroom, which was a nice touch. On the downside, the bed in both rooms was pretty tough for two people, and they only gave us one pillow each, which wasn't ideal. Also, the first-floor room didn't have a stove, so we couldn't cook anything, unlike the second-floor room. Overall, it's a decent spot for a budget beach getaway, but don't expect luxury.

Room was s really dirty. Glad I brought my own blankets. Location is great. Found LARGE Cockroach in bathroom. The fire/-smoke alarm was completely ripped out of the wall. Big no no even it comes to the room being "up to code" It said meekly renovated. But definitely not in the room I was in (166) The room was cheap.. now I see why.. u pay for what you get ...

Not recommend this hotel at all. hotel is dirty all over the building the rooms. When entered the rooms the smell of cigarettes, and weed is terrible. We had reserved a 2 bed with kitchen let me tell you one of the rooms was so smelling that i couldn't be in it .we requested another room without the smell, but the only one that was kinda not smelling was a 1 bed that smell like mold. There were no shampoo and conditioner. The mini stove they have on the rooms don't even work. I told the older guy on the front desk that it was not working and he said that he was going to send someone to repair it but didn't see anyone the whole time we were there. Very poor management. The rooms don't even have fire alarms the alarms are hiding on their broken dressers that they have.

It remains a nice location close to the beach, but is afar from anything and you're nothing without a car. The reception guy was friendly, but turns out that is just to get you past the 15-minutes annulation window.||Very dirty room, the curtains fell of the window, dead bugs by the windows, condense. The walls; holes and dirt, the bathroom; towels had stains on them and when I tried to find a different place the wifi was such a pain. The parking lot is dirty with trash and shady people come on and off. ||Yes, after a early fligh we asked for an early check-in, but any room should have a minimum standard. After a formal request, the owner wasn't even willing to refund even one of the two nights. ||Not even on tv you have seen rooms this dirty.

Beware of Ocean View Inn - Unethical and Uncaring Hosts I had a terrible experience with the Ocean View Inn on Airbnb. I tried to book a four-night stay for my elderly mother, who needed a place to stay after selling her home. As soon as I put in the dates, the host started texting me, saying I was approved and urging me to complete the reservation. The price seemed reasonable, so I went ahead and booked it. However, when I asked if my mother would be able to check in since the reservation was under my name, the host immediately said no, only the person who made the reservation could check in. This was a huge problem since I’m in South Florida and my mother is in Virginia. The host told me to cancel the reservation, which I did, but then they kept a third of my money. Since then, they have refused to communicate with Airbnb about my refund, and Airbnb has been trying to reach them for about 24 hours with no response. After looking at their reviews, I’m relieved my mother didn’t stay at this desperate, money-hungry establishment. They clearly have no morals or care for their guests, especially considering my mother is an elderly woman. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Be aware of their scamming ways.

The unfortunate thing about Google ratings is that anybody can rate a business and you don't know whether to believe the good ones or the horrible ones. In this case, I didn't see the horrible ones until after I had booked, and it was last minute so to cancel would have been to forfeit $175, one night stay. So we went. Traffic was a nightmare and we were late for our event so my initial inspection was cursory. They only give you 15 minutes to ask for a new room. Not even sure they would give you a refund then. The room appeared ok, old, and frankly in poor repair, but I was mostly interested in beds. I pulled back the covers and thought they were clean. However when we returned at midnight it was clear the one bed had been slept in. Knowing we would get no refund and it is summer at the beach my husband went and requested clean linens. The night clerk wasn't even surprised. I made the mistake of taking my shoes off to walk around on bare wooden floors. My feet were black in 10 min. I used to run around barefoot on blacktop as a kid, my feet had never been this black. Anyway we slept, the beds were actually quite comfortable but tbh I am still worried about bedbugs even though I checked. On check out I reported my issues to the day clerk his response was as if I told him his hotel was magnificent. He showed no concern whatsoever and keep in mind I was not trying to ask for a refund. Though in all fairness when someone pays $175 for a single night they should be entitled to clean sheets, floor and a bathtub that doesn't appear to be 100 years old with the corresponding years of grime that go with it. Oh and the beach front in front of the hotel has people camping overnight on the beach. How this place passes health inspections is beyond me. If they had offered a free breakfast I would have been afraid to eat it. This place makes the poorest campground bathrooms look like 5 stars.
