Ocean Gate has many property owners and developers. We had a two bed, two bath condo, which was nicely maintained, except one shower stall with missing and dirty grout. The door to the units is opened with door codes. When staying our second week, we were locked out with neither the past week's nor the new week's code allowing us to get into our condo. Although it is an oceanfront property, we had no views of the sea. The walk through the dunes is long, and we had trouble getting back onto the property through a gate with a code.
Do not go if you have mobility issues. There is no staff and never any security. This is not an ADA compliant property and they make no effort to assist in any manner. They leave extremely bright lights on all night (think football stadium type lights) that make it impossible to sleep. Plus the lights encourage adults to get drunk by the pool and think it's a good idea to let screaming children run around the pool. No view of ocean and path to ocean is hard to navigate. Feral, sick animals all around grounds .
I would rate this as a one or less due to the fact we had been locked out of our condo 5 timesincluding the initial time when we arrived in St Augustine. The lock box on the door kept needing to be reset. The maintenance company was located in New Smyrna and couldn’t be bothered to come down and change/ fix the lock. Due to the lock issue we had to resort to leaving the patio door unlocked just to be able to get in. ||The receptionist on the phone from the New Smyrna office was kind and tried to be able to get the help we needed each time we called. But the office manager wouldn’t return our calls.||We left a day early because we were tired of having to call just to get in the condo when we went places.||Also the condo needed cleaned better and the outside of the whole resort needed better maintenance.||All-in-all I would avoid going to stay at this place.
I am here right now and we just checked in last night. They won't give us more shampoo and body soap when they didn't stock it from the get go. They're saying they won't be by to stock it until the day we leave. Horrible service. Do not come here.
At first, it looked like a great place to stay, but the whole place is crawling with tons of roaches. Every kitchen cabinet had roaches and roach droppings! Bathrooms roaches all over the floors! We couldn't make food or have anything out. Will not stay again
We stayed for a week and really enjoyed it. This was our second trip, we liked it so much we came back. The place has a laid-back family feel, which was wonderful for us!
The place is a great location. It was clean, but dated. It’s needs some TLC.
Booked for 1 wk, in studio apartment.we did not even stay one night.
Someone promised to call us with our room access code. No one did. We went to the actual office at 4 pm when they were supposed to be open. No one there. Called & was nicely told our code etc.
Arrived in room, furniture old but acceptable, but bed cover was old, stained & had multiple holes/tears on underside. Blanket throw did not look clean.
Sheets & towels were fresh.
Tiny kitchenette had some weird type of tiny toaster oven/coffee maker combo. (Looked like an overgrown kids Easy bake oven). Coffee maker had about 2 inches of mould in it. Cupboard had a used bottle of syrup that was almost coagulated. Fridge was clean. Minimal utensils including a fry pan , (. not sure what that was for as no stove).
Ceiling vents in bathroom & main area had lots of dirt/ dust hanging from them. Looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in years.
Checked out the pool area, which was nice. However, was told that the hot tub was in fact a cold tub. We easily accessed this area without the special access code provided to us. We simply unlocked the gate.
Tried to connect to wifi. The pswd on the laminated instruction card did not work. No one on property seemed to know the correct one. Again called office & did get the correct one.
Called office requesting room reassignment & told to call next am. We were so upset, we tried to call main office # on our reservation sheet… # disconnected. Next contacted Expedia online for assistance. They were great but we lost our deposit/ penalty.
Maybe we chose the wrong room but would advise others to be very careful in booking this property.

Great location, clean and affordable. About 20 mins from St Augustine, which is great if you want to be away from the hustle and bustle. It's literally 5 mins from the Matanzas Inlet, which provides a great beach and great fishing. Owners and staff
I absolutely love this resort! The grounds are well kept, as well as the rooms and meeting areas. I especially love the employees as they always seem to provide exemplary customer service.
Went to St Augustine for a quick try and picked this place last minute. And it was perfect. It surpassed my expectations. Room and decor are amazing. Independent access to your room and parking is included. Walking distance to the main attractions in
We went to the beach to watch the sunrise and then wanted to stop for coffee and breakfast before heading home. Driving down King rd., I was able to see the neon Open sign on their window. I turned around and went back and parked in front of their
Great little spot. Stopped in for my first time and had the Asada Bowl. Solid little bite of food, I must say. Good choice of hot sauces for the dips. The staff was very personal and welcoming.
Super friendly staff welcoming us dropping in from out of town. Facility is really clean and I loved having the open gym hours available for us to do whatever we wanted. Love the high ropes! Also very clean.
My wife and I toured St. Augustine for the first time and stayed at the Cedar House for our anniversary and we couldn't have picked a better location. We were within walking distance to all of the major attractions in the historic district and thoro
