OBC Kitchen - Gastropub in Lexington - 3373 Tates Creek Rd, USA

Finally got to try this Southern inspired kitchen with an extraordinary bourbon bar. While the food was top notch, well prepared and tasty, I did have some reservations and would change what I ordered on return. The warm pimento cheese spread was delicious and perfectly prepared. The chips provided with it were tasty and had the perfect texture, but were way too salty. The entrees were perfectly prepared and more than enough food even though the steak was small. The biscuits are flakily and plentiful. The hash brown casserole was the best I’ve had. As we were on their brunch menu, we had to try the smoked Bloody Mary. If you like bloody Mary’s it is as good as any. The presentation is worth the price of the drink.

The dedicated staff enhances the overall experience with personalized recommendations and a keen understanding of pacing a meal. While the pricing might exceed local alternatives, it is worth every penny. Comparatively, the value is exceptional compared to other markets, considering the level of cuisine and bourbon selection. 💡 Standout Feature: Undoubtedly, the standout feature is the bourbon—over 500 choices, including rare bottles and imaginative cocktails. Also, the food pairings, with their unique combination of ingredients marry well, and further elevate the dining experience. ⚠️ What Was Mid: A surprising letdown was the bread—the first impression of any dining experience. It was a little thing but contrasting with the otherwise excellent meal. Just a little effort here with a unique bread or flavored butter could significantly enhance the initial impression.

I just found a reason to move to Lexington Kentucky, OBC Kitchen. I could be here for a few months to try every item on their menu, perhaps a couple of years to taste every bourbon and whiskey. I have not smiled or laughed while enjoying a meal in a long time, this is according to my husband, who had a kick at noticing me having pleasure. The service was superb. Julian, our server was phenomenal, knowledgeable, professional, friendly, good manners, attentive and tuned into our needs, patient and calm, and attention to detail. The Seared scallops were perfect, salty-sweet flavor, firm and tender texture, and creamy buttery taste. Served over mushroom nutty, earthy rich creamy risotto. Excellent!! One of the best delightful combinations of buttery thick creamy grits topped with flavorful seared shrimp. Grateful my husband is always willing to share. My friend enjoyed her choice of pork tenderloin over brie. We all over-indulged on the Warm Buttermilk Donuts and 3 sinful yummy sauces. I abandoned myself in several libations. the Old Fashions flight was a delightful surprising treat and enjoyed their version of Boulevardier, one of my favorite cocktails. This is a must-try spot in Lexington. BTW, be aware that the reservation process was not the best. We called several times trying to get our preferred time 6:30 pm. First, we were told that there was nothing available until 7:30 pm, so we took that reservation. Called, later on, we were able to move it to 7:15. We show up at 7:00 and we were seated right away - gratitude. There was plenty of empty tables and room at the bar.

If you are into Bourbon then this is a MUST!!! The food selection was great but the Bourbon selection is incredible. They have some of the rarest/hard to find bourbons around. If you’re having a hard time choosing what to try just tell your waiter/waitress a price point for a pour and take their suggestion. We were there for 3 1/2 hrs just listening to our waiters knowledge and drinking his suggestions. What an awesome experience. Highly recommend for anyone. Will definitely stop back by when we are in town.

We had fabulous service at dinner. The fried green tomatoes were amazing with a bacon jam and goat cheese. My partner’s short rib dinner was amazing. I had the salmon with kale, while the fish was very good the salad was overdressed and really not edible. My cocktail “Damn It Feels Good To Be A’ a barrel aged boulevardier was the best one I have ever had and I drink this cocktail regularly.

Outdoor patio is perfect for travelers with a dog 🐶 😄👍 Our server was very knowledgeable on the food & drink and he had a great sense of humor. The cola-braised short rib was FIRE 🔥 tender and packed with flavor. I swapped out the grits and greens for the mac n cheese and the roasted glazed brussel sprouts. I had a ginger ale to drink which was crisp and refreshing. My wife ordered the short rib tacos and fingerling potatoes. The tacos were so-so and the potatoes were a miss….but her Peach Peach cocktail (x2) were a hit!

Great food and vibes at OBC! We enjoyed the cola braised short ribs, as well as the fried chicken. Amazing bourbon selection - would return next time we are in Lexington!

Fantastic food and over 700 whiskeys. Zero proof cocktails for those that don't partake. The burrata watermelon tomato salad and fried green tomatoes were exceptional, and the desserts were phenomenal.
