This is such a beautiful spot! It's a great nature watching walk. Great for bird watching, seeing deer, coyotes... we've seen'em all!
This place has a lot of playground equipment for the kid's to play on. The equipment is good for almost all ages.
There are some lovely Hiking trails to. On one of the Hiking trails you can see a building that has one of the largest paintings on the side of the building in the state. The trails can be Steep In a few places so if you have children or animals with you hiking make sure they're on the right side of the trail going down and on the left side going up.
Very quiet, serene place to walk and great for beginners. We did see some 🐦 birds. Most trails are paved but some are not. Beautiful views from each side. Ther are a lot of trees, swampy marsh and lake.
Lovely park area with gorgeous views and excellent walks right in the Sellwood area.
The tracks are lovely, with some only for walking and some combined cycle and walking trails.
Plenty of wildlife to see and gorgeous views.
The Tadpole pond is rather neat!
Would definitely be suitable for taking kids, and is very dog friendly (on a leash!)
Wonderful reserve with short and long walks.
This trail was very scenic. It was mostly for bike riders and runners, so we constantly had to step out of the way. I'd say this would be an excellent place for walking your dog or taking them out to throw a ball in the bigger fields.
We were looking for an easy hike with our 5 year old nephew and this was close and easy. There are some beautiful spots wjth a view of the water and wild flower fields. All pretty easy even trail. We had a good time!
Wonderful options, allowing for different types of visits depending on the weather. We visited on an overcast winter day, not long after rain had moved through, so we kept to mostly paved options, starting at the north parking lot on Milwaukie Ave, making our way to the Springwater Trail, and heading south from there.
Future visits will take in the Bluff Trail, which follows the eastern edge of the refuge, meeting up with Springwater near Oaks Park. The Bluff Trail is unpaved, and does not allow bicycles, so it will be much more of a nature experience.
One benefit, in pandemic times, of the paved options is that the paths are wide, allowing walkers, cyclists, and runners to pass each other while maintaining a respectable distance.
As for wildlife, there wasn't much to see in December, but a combination of seeing two serene bald eagles on East Island, and the wetlands with their corresponding sparse tree cover still made for a very enjoyable walk.
Only hiked part looking fo birds. The main roads are paved and busy with joggers and cycles. Easy walk down but there is a grade walking back up that might be a problem for certain health issues.
Main path large enough to accommodate a wheelchair with room for other traffic to pass. Milwaukee parking lot was the start point
We will explore side paths next.
2nd path is only for the sure footed as we were on gravel path then stairs on to a meadow. You can see Oaks Parks in the background. No joggers on this part.
Not a circle path. Pictures are from the 2nd hike.

I love this spot. They have one of the best cappuccinos in Portland. The staff is always kind, and friendly. And the tunes are always on point.
Pro tip: ask for sugar crunchies on your capp. You wonât regret it!
