We really enjoyed our experience! The staff was great! Lots of high energy! We started off with a Caesar salad and cheese curds. Both were delicious and enough for both of us to enjoy. For the main course, we both got the 3 meatballs with meat sauce. I got the regular and my husband got the spicy meatball. The flavors were amazing! Sweet and savory. We also got the Mac and cheese and the Parmesan risotto.....they both are a must have! We will definitely be back!
I stopped in with my fiancé and a friend after our initial dinner location fell through on a Saturday night. We were able to quickly sit at the bar and had great service. The food was wonderful, we tried the chorizo mac n cheese with added pork belly - definitely recommend it!! I also recommend the sliders for the meatballs so you can mix and match - all were very tasty. The parmesean sauce was creamy and a nice fit with the meatballs.
Amazing! This place may sound simple, but it is so very delicious! We had a group of 8 and everyone ordered different items from the menu & we all LOVED our food! The meatballs and Mac & cheese were so yummy. If you’re wanting a drink, the espresso martini was the best we have had! Cristina was super friendly and anttentive. The overall atmosphere is super cute and comfortable. We will ABSOLUTELY be back!
After receiving a couple of recommendations to try Oak City, I gave it a try last night. I was so excited and so was my friend who came with me. Upon walking in the atmosphere was very chill and relaxed. A wrap around bar with a few tables around. It felt more like a pub versus a full service restaurant. Because we were digging vegetables, we decided to get salads and a meat ball. We both went with the traditional as it was our first try. What we were expecting was not what we received. First, the meat ball was way smaller than we thought. Next, it lacked seasoning, flavoring, and something special. It was very dry and just did not impress. Last, the meat ball had no sauce. It was literally a dry and oddly shaped meatball on top of the salad. Now the salad was good. It was much larger than I thought, especially for a side salad. I had to ask for a plate underneath it as the toppings kept falling off the side. It could've had a little more dressing, as it was a little dry, which I asked for and did not realize was a $1 more for. I am giving Oak City three stars for the amazing service by Chris and the good salad. I would not recommend their meatballs, which is sad because it is in their name! There is definitely room for improvement on their balls.
It was a chilly Thursday afternoon. We were looking for a good lunch spot for a group. Came across this classic shoppe that serves unique meatballs. The menu is simple yet some great options. We had the buffalo cauliflower, which was a great starter and next level amazing. We all ordered different variety of meatballs some sliders, some multiple balls with sauce and a bread to dip. The spicy pork was by far the best. They also had some tasty Mac and cheese labeled the OG. We didn’t grab any drinks, but they do have a huge bar and half priced whiskey on Wednesday’s. A downtown Raleigh staple. Highly recommend.
This place is great!! I got the Sliders so I could try different flavors. They were all great. The salad was pretty fab, too. You can't beat Whiskey Wednesday for 1/2 whiskey drinks. The 1882 OF was delicious. Oh, our waiter was really good too. Very friendly and attentive. He told us about the specials right away. The other waitress did not tell another patron. Ended up here on a Saturday night with no reservations, but they had 3 “first come first served” spots at the bar for our party. The food was delicious. The bruschetta was my favorite - such good flavor profiles mixing together. Enjoyed the meatballs and chorizo Mac and cheese, but will try the sliders next time to mix and match the meats and sauces! It’s a fun stop in downtown Raleigh.
The sliders were awesome, loved each combo I made. The daily risotto was Spinach and Feta which was delightful as well! Would recommend, will be back for sure, need more garlic bread too.
