O-Bar-O Cabins - Resort hotel in Durango - 11998 Co Rd 240, USA

My family surprised my new fiancé and me with a wonderful getaway at O-Bar-O. The owners accommodated our later arrival due to a surprise party for our engagement. The rooms were very comfortable, clean and cozy. There were heated blankets on the bed, a hot tub by the river and complimentary snacks and water on the table. These small details made all the difference! While we were on our way out, one of the owners gave us a very sweet card congratulating us on our engagement signed by all the staff. Their hospitality was unmatched. We will definitely be spending more nights here. I highly recommend the O-Bar-O to everyone who wants to have a delightful true Colorado experience.

My wife and I spent 4 nights at the O-Bar-O Cabins early in October. We were in the Chipmunk cabin. This was our first visit to Durango and its surrounding area. The purpose of the trip was to spend time with my wife's sister and brother-in-law who were also staying in the cabins as well as visit Durango, Mesa Verde, Silverton, and Ouray. The property is beautiful -lots of trees, a meadow, and, of course the river. We were lucky enough to be there when some of the trees were changing color. There are a large number of aspens in the Durango area and many were transitioning from green to yellow to orange to red and some were just starting to lose their leaves.||We had a great trip. The cabins are 11 miles from Durango on a beautiful road so we got into town for lunch and dinner when we chose to without any problem. We also cooked one dinner in the cabin for the four of us with the pots and pans provided and that worked perfectly. Herb and Natalie were great hosts - providing us with a nice welcome basket, a well stocked kitchen (well stocked with the needed appliances) and also had a basket of sundries for us in case we left something behind. We loved sitting in the Adirondack chairs down near the water in the morning and in the afternoon. It was nice and peaceful.||We highly recommend the cabins. They were just what we needed!

My wife and I stayed here for four nights and absolutely loved it. We stayed in the Birdsnest which was the perfect size for the two of us. Comfortable bed, large bathroom, huge shower and plenty of room for us to sit and eat or relax. It had everything we needed and more. The grounds around the site were incredibly beautiful and serene. Every night we opened the windows to let in the crisp air and fell asleep to the sound of the nearby river. It was amazing to wake up before dawn and sit outside with a cup of coffee watching the stars twinkle out and the sun come up over the mountains. Wish we lived closer! Herb & Natalie were wonderful hosts, and their pup Pearl was a sweetheart. We can't wait to come back!

The cabins are beautiful and the proximity to the river makes for a very soothing experience. I went for about 5 days to disconnect and enjoy nature. There is a trailhead nearby and Durango was only a 20 minute drive when I wanted to play tourist. The kitchen was well enough equipped for the size of the cabin, and grills are on the deck. The owners are very kind, and I will definitely return next year.

O-Bar-O Cabins is now our 'go-to' spot to escape it all. As a family, we enjoyed the location, the quiet, the snow, the river, and the exceptional attention to detail that Herb and Natalie provided to make our stay exceptional. The cabin was perfect, the Christmas decorations were wonderful, and the kitchen had everything we needed to make an awesome Christmas dinner. Highly recommend O-Bar-O Cabins.

Such a great little hidden gem! About 15 minutes from town, nestled down on the creek. Every accommodation you can think of, they’ve addressed. Heated blankets in all the beds, robes and slippers, welcome baskets, fresh flowers etc. tons of outdoor space to enjoy nature. Close to hikes and hot springs. Perfect place for our family of 4. We cannot wait to come back with more family and friends!

Darling cabins located on the Florida River in a picturesque mountain setting. The Chipmunk cabin was cozy with a well appointed small kitchen, propane fireplace, and a super comfy bed with fabulous linens and bedding. We can't wait to plan another trip. Thank you Herb, Natalie and Pearlie Girl.

These are very beautiful, and very well equipped cabins that are in a very beautiful place. They are right next to the river. The cabins are extremely clean. Some are dog friendly. I have stayed here twice, both with my dog and without him. They are very accommodating to guests with dogs. The owners and staff are very friendly and kind and will chat with you but will also give you plenty of space. It is a short drive from the cabins into Durango. Maybe about 15 minutes. One of my favorite things is getting to see the Milky Way and all the stars at night. There is very little light pollution. There are beautiful handmade benches and tables to sit and enjoy the sound of the river and the woods. A couple things to keep in mind is that there is not any air conditioning. In the summer the loft where the bed is can get uncomfortably warm. Also, in the cabins I have stayed in, there is a spiral staircase leading up to the loft with the bed. The staircase is not practical for a dog. The steps are slick varnished wood. Luckily there is a very comfortable pull out sofa on the main level that solves the problem of keeping your dog near you at night without worrying about the stairs.
